Newt Gingrich on Thursday called on President Barack Obama to fire Energy Secretary Steven Chu, citing congressional testimony this week in which Chu said his overall goal was to decrease U.S. dependency on oil, not lower the price.
President Obama must announce today in his Nashua address that he is firing Secretary Chu and replacing him with a pro-American-energy appointment, said a statement from Gingrich, who cited a POLITICO story about Chus appearance before a House Appropriations subcommittee.

Newt talking on Cavuto NOW about the gas prices and Chu.
If you’re not going to hunt, stay in the damn truck.
Oh, God help me, I’ll probably vote for him. He’s the best of a bad lot. But is this the best we can do? Really?
missed it.
It is now.
Heck, if we had a perfect candidate, we would just nail Him to a Cross anyway.
Newt is our best shot right now to save this country.

Gingrich: Sec’y Chu should be fired
2012 candidate lashes out over Steven Chu’s gas price comments
thanks
No, the best would never put themselves in front of the Nazi-press firing squads. That's part of the RAT's grand design.
Look what happened to Nixon, Reagan, Quayle, GWB, Sarah Palin, Bachmann, Cain, Perry etc.
Hey, I've got an idea!...Why don't you run?
I couldn’t run ‘cause I got more warts on my past than a toad. In fact, I’m about a photogenic as one too. And you’re quite correct, nobody with a shred of introspection, perspective, humility or a concern for their immortal soul can survive the process.
It’s just that I am sick of the pubbies always turning to the next guy in line. Their slavish adherence to a seniority pecking order is stultifying. It seems to me that Reagan won in spite of the party, not because of it.
Palin and Bachman, both of whom I thought had great potential, were defeated as much by the backstabbers in their own party - their own campaigns, in fact - as they were by the media left (and the media were barbaric). Cain and Perry had self-inflicted wounds, as did Nixon. (And truthfully, looking back at what Nixon did as far as policy goes, in many ways he was to the left of Obeyme.) Quayle was a true victim of the media left. They managed to get the meme that he was stupid to stick, all over playing up the “potatoe” incident.
I am still holding out hope for the next generation - Jindal, Rubio, Haley and Lord know who else is in the AAA waiting to move up into the majors. They should be cultivated and developed, not stepped on and held down so the next broken down warhorse or old money scion in line can get his shot.
Stealing a page from the Herman Cain campaign, the Obama Administration yesterday announced its own 999 plan!
Its $9.99 a gallon for gasoline!
Unless, of course, they're a democrat.
Cain and Perry had self-inflicted wounds, as did Nixon.
Maybe, definitely Nixon, regarding the coverup. But they are all innocent babes compared to Carter who gave away the Panama Canal and created the fertile breeding ground (Iran) for the modern jihad terrorist...and Clinton who fomented a nuclear China.
All overlooked of course by the RATagandist "news outlets".
