I lay some blame on the current sad state of TV and movies. Sure, there is violence in society. Always has been and always will. But, whether on TV or in society, violence in one arena feeds the other. I used to watch the dang thing a lot, but now, every time I even happen to glance at it while other household members have it on, it's just the same old crime, killing, maiming, shooting.

Another point to make about not being part of the TV scene now for a few years: The boiling lobster or frog or whatever animal, slowly but surely, is involved here. I have family members that seem to be immune now to the most awful crap. Okay. But, when someone like me walks by and gets a 5 second snippet of whatever was going on that moment, I believe I can better reflect on how much "the water temperature has increased" on the box. So, TV viewers just subtlety go deeper and deeper into the violence trance that it puts them into, where if one could just break that trance, you could see that the "temp is near the boiling point" of rape, suicide, killing, gore and blood.

I much prefer to watch the Topeka news versus Kansas City, because of what you describe.

Wish I was hundreds of miles from a big city, unfortunately I’m within a short gas tank.

The news media is certainly responsible for stoking racial tensions in their quest for sensationalism as part of the Bolsheviks’ “divide & conquer” strategy; just look at the imbalance in coverage between and alleged hate crime and the resulting discovery that it was a hoax. “Black leaders” are the most volatile fringe elements, chosen by the media to fan the flames; more mainstream representatives are ignored.
