An Italian cruise ship with about 1,000 people on board is reported to be adrift off the coast of Seychelles.
The Italian coast guard said Monday the Costa Allegra is drifting in the Indian Ocean, between Madagascar and the Seychelles islands.
Officials say a fire on board caused the ship's engines to fail. There have been no reports of injuries.

Mr. melissa_in_ga wants to take a road-trip to the West next year. Ill miss him while Im on my cruise!
Go for it. When I first got married my Mrs Gonzo had four weeks of vacation and I only had two. So she would go on cruises with her mom and I got to stay home and pay the bills. Worth every penny for the improved in-law relations. And besides the extra couple of trips mean that she is a diamond member now and we get extra perks.
Now I just need to talk her into one of those two story suites. Come on honey, it is only $14,000 a person. The kids don't need to go to school this year.

Just an aside, but I wonder why new posts to you and you have mail are both stuck on red. I haven’t had mail for over a week and it still shows red. Anyone else having this problem?

Thank you for that write up.
I just sold my house so i have a bit of money in the bank to spend.
Back in early 2003 i went on the second voyage of the Navigator of the Seas.
The ship was brand spankin new and it still had that new car smell lol.
I was SERIOUSLY impressed with that ship and it just blows my mind how much more awesome the new ones are.
I see your point with the Viking Lounge, i was wondering why it seemed so low, almost a waste now.
I had no idea about that bridge.
That Navigator trip was great though, I caught my GF at the time cheating on me a week before the trip so i ended up going alone, had the balconey room to myself. I was misereable when i boarded but that misery lasted less then an hour lol.
I had the time of my life!
I think maybe i’ll go check out the RCI site now....

“We were out, nearly at capacity and you never felt crowded on the ship.”
That’s another thing, the Navigator was completely booked yet the ship seemed half full.
I liked that.

Hmm. No, I haven’t had that problem, nor seen a post from anyone else mentioning it. You might try pinging or mailing JimRob to see if he can help?

Funny that you mentioned the new ship smell. When I went out on Liberty of the Seas the first time it was only her fifth or sixth paying run. My wife and I both recalled the line from the movie Titanic about the whole ship smelling like fresh paint. Because it did.
One thing that was different about Allure was the return of the 1st class vs steerage passengers. The Suite people are definitely living the sweet life. Reserved seats at all performances, prime areas roped off. Again if you are paying that kind of money they should get something extra. It just bothered me that at the one show I was standing while the majority of the seats in the suite area were empty. I understand that they get first call, but if they don't show up before show time the seats should become available to the people in the theater.

Pintle-mounted belt-fed 7.62x51 MGs as a minimum, and Ma Deuces preferred.

"It's a boat. The head is always open..."I wouldn't try that from the side of the ship. You might get a nasty suprise.

There was a Project Runway guy had to design a dress based on the flag of the Seychelles. It really is pronounced like “sea shells”, sorta.
The flag was pretty enough. I never heard of the “country”. Is it a British country or somewhere else?

It was a British colony, largely populated with French descendents. The Brits won control of the island after the Treaty of Paris in 1815, post-Waterloo.

One probably should not use the phrase, ‘flip side’, when referring to the Costa Cruise Line.
