Newt Gingrich was barreling toward the end of his stump speech Friday night when Occupy protesters started a ruckus in the theater balcony.
His supporters drowned them out with Newt chants and one offered the Republican presidential hopeful a piece of advice: Stay cheerful.
He did, but he couldnt resist a jab.
Its all right, Gingrich said. Its nice to be in a free country. Theres no necessary parallel between noise and intelligence.
Asked to describe himself in one word at Wednesdays Republican debate, Gingrich used cheerful, but a week-ending campaign swing through Washington state, Idaho and California, showed the uneasy coexistence of Gingrichs cheer and pugilism.
The idea is to project the image of a happy warrior in the model of President Ronald Reagan. The result is a critique of President Barack Obama that is part comedy routine, part frightening description of a diminished nation and dangerous world in a second Obama term. And though primary GOP rival Mitt Romney no longer has a starring role in the Gingrichs speeches, he draws the occasional barb, too.
Gingrich conducts much of his derision of Obama in a mocking tone, giving the message a lighter feel. He kept his rally crowds laughing as he referenced Obamas energy speech in which he talked about algae as a promising alternative fuel.
We should get a bottle of algae and we can go around and we can have the Obama solution, Gingrich said Thursday in Coeur dAlene, Idaho. And maybe what we ought to do at newt.org is we ought to get T-shirts that say, You choose. Newt: Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less. Barack Obama: Have Algae, Pay More, Be Weird.

New tagline.;-)
Good tagline - Newt will cheerfully knock the wind out of Obama’s sails if given the opportunity. Nothing like wiping the smirk off your opponent’s face while maintaining a smile on your own face...It shows that, like Rush, Newt can destroy his opponents with half his brain tied behind his back.
Just imagine what a mind like this would do to Bozo in a debate!
Please add me to your pinglist, Thank you.
Time for Rick & Newt to form a CONSERVATIVE pact to counter the weird one between Willard the Mass Lib & Ron the Racist Nutjob.
It’s not rocket science, folks.
Otherwise we split the CONSERVATIVE vote as Huck (30%) & Fred (15%) did last cycle.

Bozo would be a no show if he had to go against Newt! Lack of foray and balls!!
Oops, didn’t mean to double post.
Bozo would be a no show if he had to go against Newt! Lack of *courage* and balls!!
Ask Santorum about that. I believe Newt could unload on Santorum and for a reason has elected not to. He has defended Rick on many occasions. Rick has failed to do the same.
In fact, RS played cold enough against Newt during the height of the weird ex-wives scandal.
They need to work it out as the final two TRUE CONSERVATIVES in the race.
But maybe they have since I haven’t heard Newt refer to Rick as his “junior partner” recently.
You can’t use logic on someone who thinks Mike Huckabee is a true conservative.
Rick+Newt=Victory
Agree. In our dreams that Hussein would debate Newt. He’s a coward and a narcissist and he would simply refuse and not care about backlash. He’s the POTUS and the incumbent, unfortunately.
Einstein,
Who was your candidate last primary cycle when it came down to Willard the Lib, McLame the Moderate, or Huck the Conservative?
Jim Robinson and I wisely chose Huck.
I bet you in your liberal wisdom chose Willard.
Rick+Newt=Victory
Amen.
You have to be kidding. Can’t imagine Mr. Morality wanting to be associated with a sinner like Gingrich. Can’t imagine Santorum’s base wanting him either. Just want him for his brains now huh, but what about that baggage?
If the media ran Newt in California, he’s win all the coming primaries
