Huge symbol for boomers and seniors who are a huge voting segment.
Put it together with “I like to fire people” and “I don’t care about poor people” and “Medicare Fraud”
and you have a winner for Obama.
Boomers will see him as someone who's patriotic and down-to-earth enough to buy American, despite having more than enough dough ($300m) to buy custom foreign made wheels like Rolls Royce or Bentley. A lot of boomers buy foreign luxury cars, because they can't be bothered with the maintenance nightmares presented by domestic makes, and because labels like Cadillac confer negative prestige unless they live in the hood. In 2011, BMW alone outsold Cadillac 250K to 150K, and most buyers of luxury makes are oldsters.
My point is that the media is stuck in the past. These days, a Cadillac isn’t the symbol of ostentation it used to be. Camelot is dead and buried, along with the Cadillac brand name.
