I don't want to be "chipped", either! But I experimented a bit with RFID as a means of tracking / guiding a catheter into the heart for chemotherapy delivery. (Now done with X-Rays...) The signals returned are not large. Those claims of tracking a "chip" from a distance (as in finding an abducted child) face a serious obstacle called "the Inverse Square law"...
However, like you, I do expect the hand / forehead "mark" to be data-oriented in nature.
One bad scenario: sharia plus chipping of non-Muslims...
