Not necessarily.

One historical fact regarding Santorum is in most of his elections, he seems to perform better than polling. I don't know why and I don't know if this will hold true in Michigan or not.

Since there's been so much press regarding Team Romney's negative advertising blitz against Gingrich and the effect it had, I wonder if there will be a backlash this time?

I hope you are right, but there is also a possibility that it has more to do with the winner of each state just being underpolled and the polls just not catching the magnitude of the last minute momemtum shift.

Romney underpolled in New Hampshire, Florida, and Nevada

Santorum underpolled in Iowa, MN, CO, and MO

and Gingrich underpolled in South Carolina.
