The only reason they made this movie is because it’s an election year and Obama is on the ticket.
Consider: this movie was made in Hollywood - a place that hates the military. JarHead, Redacted, etc, etc, etc.
I’m not going to go along with the blatant politicization of US fighting personnel in such a fashion - especially when Obama wants to slash the military budget!
I’m not going to be sucked in. I find this offensive.
The argument could just be as easily made that this is an anti-Obama film....
Per the producers who are essentially no-name, the film is a tribute to the armed forces, the men who serve and their families who support them.
This is the only reason active duty Seals participated in their off-time to help make the movie.....No one ordered them...in fact they first refused citing your base argument....
I’ll agree, that almost everything that comes out of Hollywood has a either an obvious or obscured liberal political slant, but not all.
Mel Gibson’s “The Patriot” or “The Passion of Christ” are two blockbusters hat quickly come to mind. The Hollywood elite had a meltdown and howled over these films, withholding many awards innapropriately....
If this movie proves to be the real deal, a true non-political tribute to these warriors, then going to see it is a finger in the Hollywood’s elite collective eye....
They started making the movie five years ago. Do you think the actual active duty Navy SEALs who star in the movie find it “offensive”?
Perhaps you want to do some research on the project before jumping to conclusions.
The filmmakers initially were brought in to make a SEAL recruitment film. This project has been ongoing for 2 years because the SEAL actors have been on and off deployment.
A pro military film in no way helps Obama. His base hates the military and hates heroes that believe in God and Country.
Slash the military budget? Fox just had a analyst on who said that Obama is telling close friends he intends to destroy the US’ entire nuclear weapons stockpile before he leaves office so he can be the “nuclear free” president.
The filmmakers had been involved with the Seals on a project before Obama was elected.
Uh, they started filming in 2007. I suppose they already had advance knowledge that obie would need a kick start for the ‘11 elections huh?
This isn’t an 0bama thing, whatsoever.. It’s been on the books for a few years and you could make the case that they rushed it’s release now so that 0bama couldn’t milk it for votes closer to November. Based on early reviews and audience response this movie sounds very much worth seeing.
The ‘kill OBL’ SEALs movie was indeed planned for release close to the election to give 0bama a boost but that movie’s been delayed to 2013, thank God. LOL!
I don’t think that this will give Obama any kind of boost. Let’s face it, people don’t necessarily think of Obama when they are reminded of the sacrifice that our soldiers make or the hell that they go through for our sake. If anything, this might make him look worse because he is out to slash the defense budget and isn’t a huge fan of the military in general. Everybody knows this.
If this was an attempt by Hollywood to drum up support for their guy, it ain’t going to work.
I happen to love this kind of movie! I also like shows like Surviving the Cut that show you the grueling trials that our men in the military have to go through to become members of the Special Forces, Army Rangers, etc. Very insightful stuff!
Then you’re an absolute MORON. The film-makers made this film to stick a thumb in the eye of Hollywood (who didn’t want them to make it) and the administration (who consistently let the military be dissed by their elitist friends.)
Seeing this movie would strike a blow at the heart of both the White House, and Hollyweird...
But don’t let a few facts get in the way of your gasbagging rage...
The directors were very impressed with the SEALs for obvious and not so obvious reasons. During the research phase of the film the directors got to know the SEALs personally and came to realize that no effing left wing wuss (i.e. deCaprio/Demon) Hollywood wimp actors could portray the authentic SEALs so, they cast Active Duty SEALs to accurately portray these men of substance. The directors are Scott Waugh and Mike (Mouse) McCoy. Quoting Mouse, “We connected with these Brotherhood of men and really saw a Brotherhood that we thought only existed in mythology, but was real...”
Also, the Pentagon scrubbed all TTP (technique, tactic and procedure) out of the movie.
