From what I remember of the commentary at the time from other students at Stanford; she rarely attended classes, spent much of her time travelling, overseas and getting gutter crawling drunk. Many of those interviewed at the time said they couldn’t figure out how she passed any of her classes much less graduate. Her degrees were a sham, the same as her “scholarship”.
Apparently money can buy more things than most of us realize. Sometime in the 1980s one of Savannah’s crookedest lawyers tried to extort money from my mother. This behavior on his part wasn’t particularly shocking but while we were in his office the door opened and this big, fat, moronic looking guy walked in. I didn’t pay him too much attention until the lawyer said, “And look! My son little Joey is now a lawyer too and in practice with me!”. My brother and I gaped in astonishment. We had both gone to school with and played with this guy as a kid. He was beyond stupid and I always thought borderline retarded. I didn’t think he had even finished high school. The money and complete disregard for laws and school policies it must have taken to make this cretin a lawyer still boggles my mind.
