In an interview on Russia Today with Gayane Chichakyan on Tuesday, former MSNBC contributor Pat Buchanan warned that some people in positions of power in Israel and the United States that would like to see the U.S. engaged in a war with Iran over its potential to build a nuclear weapon.
There are people that want a war, he said. I mean, do not think no one wants a war. You dont have wars unless someone wants it. And quite clearly the Israeli government would like to see the United States smash Irans nuclear program, which they think is creating the additions where Iran could, with one leap forward, get a bomb.
The Israeli lobby would like to see a war. They support the Israeli government. Neoconservatives do. Many Republicans do. There are many Americans who genuinely believe that if Iran they believe Iran is moving toward a weapon; and if it is, they would favor military action to prevent it. There are a number of people who want a war.
Buchanan explained what it was like to live under the threat of a Soviet nuclear attack, and suggested that it was a far greater threat than anything the Iranians could produce. And Israel, he said, with an estimated 300 nuclear weapons, could be a bigger threat than Iran.
During the Cold War, with due respect, the Soviet Union had thousands of weapons that could have destroyed us in an afternoon, he cautioned. And we could have done the same thing.
I was around during the Cuban missile crisis. I was genuinely terrified. But Iran doesnt frighten me and I dont think it should frighten the American people. They dont have a bomb. They havent made a decision to build one. They didnt have the means to deliver one, and the Israelis have 300 atomic bombs. I mean, who presents the existential threat to whom?
If you can't appreciate the pure beauty of the violin after hearing this, something's wrong with your ears.
Or you can get raw with these strings.
How about this gamechanger from America's Got Talent (which they SHOULD have won).
And finally, this, dedicated to the one and only rdb2, whose eyes are growing dim.
Either way, the violin is sweet yet LETHAL.
Do it!
Iran has threatened to destroy Israel and then the United States. Israel is not a threat to us.
“Who is a bigger threat Iran or Israel?”
Simple, Obama!
That’s right StormFront Pat. The threat threat to our country and our way of life is not militant jihad, Muslim tyrants who would starve us of vital oil, or sharia law. The real threat is Israel. You are always so predictable Pat. Too bad you missed your chance to live in the 3rd Reich. Then they knew what to do with those pesky Jews.
I don’t know, but between Buchannan and Obama it would be hard to pick the biggest pinhead.
Buchanan has been a great conservative for 50 years. Just because he doesn’t fall in line with the neo-con foreign policy doesn’t mean he should be expelled from the fold, or labeled as some sort of bigot.
Neo-con this neo-con that.
Whatever.
Who's talking about expelling anyone, anyway?

Just like Ron Paul, Pat believes if we throw Israel under the bus that the Muslims will love us and there will be peace in the world. The past 1400 years of history illustrates that fallacy.
Right on crusader, if Israel wants to fight Iran fine with me. But I do not see how the USA would be better off by starting a war in Iran.
He is consistently anti-Israel. I rejected Pat because he seems to despise our closest allies. Is he a bigot? I don't know. Was John Demyanjuk (sp?) a former Nazi prison guard? Pat went all in defending the guy.
Doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be either. The guy’s a bum.
Could’ve come out of Ron Paul’s mouth.
The real point is that Israel can fight it’s own wars.
The United States should not fight wars for Israel.

There was only one reason why Iraq didn't have nuclear weapons when we invaded them.
That reason is Israel.
It is a dangerous region of the world and we only have ONE friend in that region - one who it seems we keep on a short leash. It is quite useful for us to threaten to remove or extend that leash if things start to not go our way.
If Buchanan were just pro-America he would see this. But he is not pro-America nearly as much as he is anti-Israel and anti- Jewish American.
OK Pat.
Simple test.
Pick the correct answers :
Which country had had nukes for 40 years, but has never threatened the physical existence of another country?
A) Israel
B) Iran
Which country is working feverishly to produce nukes, and threaten the physical existence of another country every day?
A) Israel
B) Iran
What was that question again?
What's neo-con foreign policy?
I have no idea.
However, simply asking that question makes Buchanan the most ignorant adult in the U.S., the most uninformed, or some sort of bigot, yes.
Between 1968 and 1989 The US tried to use Israel as a staging area for surveiling the Soviet Union. Israel refused.
Israel did, however, target the Soviet Union first in the event of a conflict. That does NOT mean that the U.S. can't fight its own wars. Just makes it easier.
That's not a good thing.
