That’s what Trevor said he had on the stove back in his trailer, LOL!
Weren’t those fuels mostly alcohol-based, and that’s why you couldn’t see it?
I have no problem with making the cars safe to crash at 200 mph. Since they’ve gone with the SAFER, COT and the HANS there’s been no disabling injuries.
The racing is as good as it’s ever been. As a matter of fact, the depth of talent both drivers and crews is undoubtedly the best ever.
Whoa! I am so jealous, mrs p6 too!
Indy cars ran on methanol after 1964. They switched to 100% ethanol a few yrs ago.
Nascar ran on leaded gasoline, then switched to unleaded, now runs on E15 which is 85% unleaded gasoline and 15% ethanol.
The racing is as good as its ever been. As a matter of fact, the depth of talent both drivers and crews is undoubtedly the best ever.

Ya don’t want to get stuck in a rut either but they need to quit tinkering so dang much and let some of the drivers drive the same car consistently instead of diddling constantly and tossing a new curve at ‘em every week, it seems. jmo
Here’s to some racing soon...
We were going to do something special but with daughter expecting any minute we decided to have leftovers. Pulled pork and beef from Thursday, basic beef roast with potatos and carrots from last night and jambalaya from Tuesday.
Of course mrs p6 has now taken most of that to daughter’s so it may just be beanie weanies for me and youngest son, LOL!
BTW we don’t usually make that much in a week but there were sales and I bought too much for our freezer so a lot had to be cooked.
The start of Sunday's season-opening Daytona 500 was delayed by persistent rain.
NASCAR officials are monitoring the radar and expect the next update around 4 p.m. ET.
They'll be more like the Nationwide cars.
AFAIK that was the problem, but obviously I’m not an expert....sigh.
Personally I wish it was back to STOCK cars...win on Sunday, sell on Monday.
Not that this isn’t exciting and interesting. Maybe ther should be a total stock class but then probably no one would watch.
In the most recent era, there are almost never fuel fires because the tanks are essentially bomb proof military aircraft technology and they don’t use the old engine mounted fuel pump either which used to get torn off in a bad wallbanger.
Now when you see fire, it’s usually the oil cooler (which sits up front in the airstream) and oil lines have been broken in a wreck.

Yeah, more Cookie cutter racing .. all this is supposedly going to make it cheaper for teams to be fielded and easier to run.. uhhh.. welll.. I don’t know..
They were pretty stock in the 50s, but after that the amount of “stock” went away pretty quick. Remember Smokey Yunick’s 7/8s scale Chevelle that sparked the need for body templates?
I don’t think they’re cheaper, just easier for Nascar to police. In 2013 they’re gonna need a full set of body templates for every make.
I would LOVE to see the All Star race be some sort of un-limited open entry type of a race.
Set the rules on all the proper safety aspect, but let them run whatever body style, transmissions, shocks, tires etc. that they can come up with. How cool would it be to see one of the old Mercury cars or the Petty car with the high wing spoiler on it?
Speed is a problem. The insurance co. has pretty much made Nas put a limit on how fast they can go. The “ceiling” is rumored to be 200 mph.
It came after this:

templates.. yeeek.
like gubamint or The Blob, it just keeps growing and growing..
