Newt Gingrich emerged Thursday as the first Republican White House hopeful to criticize President Barack Obama for apologizing after Muslim holy books containing extremist language were burned by NATO soldiers.
Gingrich told a crowd in Spokane, Washington, "President Obama surrendered twice today and I think that deserves to be brought to the country's attention."
**snip**
He continued, "The president apologized for the burning, but I haven't seen the president demand that the government of Afghanistan apologize for the killing of two young Americans."
Gingrich said Obama was ignoring the treat of radical Muslims intent on harming Americans.
"There seems to be nothing that radical Islamists can do to get Barack Obama's attention in a negative way, and he is consistently apologizing to people who do not deserve the apology of the president of the United States, period," Gingrich said.

I think Palin’s role is more important and effective than you give her credit for, but Newt is the one who will actually make electoral headway against Obama, so I’m glad he stepped up.
Have any of the other three candidates said anything remotely like this yet?

I am sure a Moslem or two reads about this somewhere eventually.

Palin is more and more just the obnoxious parent in the little league stands. Santorum and Romney should join her.Obnoxious parent? What are you talking about?

Sitting on the sidelines telling everyone else how to play the game. The entire GOP leadership is AWOL on this and other issues, but she's the one sitting on the sidelines. Right, sam.
BTW, thanks to Ms. Sitting on the Sidelines Being Obnoxious, John Boner has the Speaker's gavel this time around.

I think Palins role is more important and effective than you give her credit for, but Newt is the one who will actually make electoral headway against Obama, so Im glad he stepped up. Palin's role in today's conservative movement is this week's 140 character twitter substitute for William F Buckley's four decades of eloquent and biting intellect.
She's becoming our beautiful version of Susan Estrich.

Brevity is the soul of wit. Why write 10 pages when 140 characters will do?

Whorealdo was on FOX and Friends a while ago, and said that 0bama was right on apologizing. What an ass. I immediately muted him of course

As much as I respect Governor Palin and all the effort she’s put forward and taking into consideration the “sacrilege” quotient here on FR; you have a point. There were and are people in this nation’s history who had a lot more to lose and still stepped forward in an hour of need.
If she didn’t want to run, that’s her business. If she wants to participate in the upper echelons of political discourse, God bless her. I would have liked to see her go for it, unfortunately it wasn’t the case. I make it a habit not to let the actions of others affect my mood, so I really wasn’t disappointed when she chose not to become a candidate.
Does she perpetually pussyfoot because she believes it’s necessary to maintain relevance? She’s relevant because she was governor and candidate for the vice-presidency. Her popularity is based upon her straight forwardness not because she’s enigmatic.

We should say good bye and good luck, we dont need to be wasting our time and our money, Gingrich said.
Newt Gingrich, said it was an outrage for the president to issue an apology on the same day two U.S. troops were killed by Afghan soldiers. It is Hamid Karzai who owes the American people an apology, not the other way around. This destructive double standard whereby the United States and its democratic allies refuse to hold accountable leaders who tolerate systematic violence and oppression in their borders must come to an end.

Brevity is the soul of wit. Why write 10 pages when 140 characters will do? Ok "Brevity is the soul of wit." But don't get confused.
All that is short is not witty.
"Bush lied, people died!" <- less than 140 characters.

There were and are people in this nations history who had a lot more to lose and still stepped forward in an hour of need. OTOH, she might have done more damage to the Conservative cause if she were still in the race getting beat up by Santorum and Gingrich.

the article mentions that Palin may have been the first to actually come out publicly and criticize Bambi, but Newt was the first candidate to do so.
I give credit to Newt for actually bothering to go to the effort to actually run, given all the slings and arrows of the media.
He's in the ring. Up at bat. etc etc.
Palin is more and more just the obnoxious parent in the little league stands. Santorum and Romney should join her.
Can't argue with that logic. Newt is in the arena, swinging his sword at the lions, Sarah is up in the skybox cheering 'GO CHRISTIANS!! GO CHRISTIANS!! RAAAAH!!!!'
