Here’s an analogy that’s not too far-fetched. Suppose that one of Obama’s czars decides exactly what foods must be served at all institutions where children have lunch. Suppose further that they decide that pork has better nutritional value than beef, and must be served at least once a week. Do synagogues and mosques have to comply? Maybe just synagogues, since many professed Jews do not follow all of the dietary laws. Where does this end? (Hint—see Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Castro, et al.)

One of the bishops who testified in the Congressional hearing last week gave a wonderful talk along the very lines you suggest, "The Parable of the Kosher Deli." http://www.usccb.org/issues-and-action/religious-liberty/upload/lori-testimony-for-oversight-on-religious-freedom-2012-02-16.pdf

A bit more bluntly, Instapundit put it something like this, "What if the government mandated that all mosques serve bacon. When Muslims objected, the media reacted by proclaiming that Muslims want to outlaw bacon."
