If Rick is our final hope, we HAVE no hope. Rick bottomed out after Iowa, and there was never much chance that he could carry this sudden momentum for very long. There is every chance Newt could take all that support back from Rick and beat Mitt. Rick’s voters will not go to Mitt. Only 2 of the top 25 conservative states have voted so far. Romney’s map gets worse as this primary goes on. Newt’s SuperPAC is supposed to be getting $10 million more from Adelson, and I think it’s only spent about that much to date. There is still Plan B, where no one gets a majority, but Newt and Rick have enough delegates by then to combine together and beat Romney and Paul.

No amount of money will matter at this point for Newt. The best I can ascertain from the FR comments tonight is that a fairly intense effort was made to paint Rick as a non-conservative. This is disingenuous and disgusting, but obviously some here have bought the excrement disguised as prime rib. Truly, I have little respect for the judgment of those who do not yetrealize that Santorum is the real deal. I could sooner paint Reagan as a moderate as Santorum.
Newt can only “bounce back” insomuch as he could hand the nomination to a REAL moderate, Romney. I wish that conservatives were savvy enough to realize this. Cordially, Bob
