Rick Santorum says his 2008 comments that Satan has set his sights on the United States of America are not relevant to the 2012 presidential race, but Chris Christie told me on GMA that Santorum is wrong.
Listen, I think anything you say as a presidential candidate is relevant. It is by definition relevant. Youre asking to be president of the United States. I dont think [Santorum's] right about that. I think it is relevant what he says. I think people want to make an evaluation, a complete evaluation of anyone who asks to sit in the Oval Office, the New Jersey governor said.
Adding to the religious discussion on the campaign trail, yesterday Santorum said he would defend everything he says and Mitt Romney said the Obama administration has fought against religion.
But Christie doesnt think a debate over religion is a conversation the Republican Party wants to engage in.
Do I think its the things we should be as a party talking about and emphasizing at the moment? No, he said.
I think the idea of the fighting against religion piece of this goes to more to Obamacare issue and the invasion of Obamacare into maybe some religious freedom issues. I think thats an interesting conversation and an important one to have in the context of overall Obamacare and whats that going to mean for the country if it goes forward after the Supreme Court arguments this spring, he said.

The all out war on conservatives continues.
If it is relevant, then it is also relevant whether Romney or Obama believes in Satan. I would like to see either one of them try to squirm out of answering that one.
Oh course you don’t Chris, your foolishly backing a mormon and you don’t want that to be revelant either. WELL IT IS GOING TO BE, heeheehaha. You picked Mittens, your stuck with him and forever too.
I am getting so sick and tired of the GOP’s in-house Romney-supporting USEFUL IDIOTS! Every last one of them: Christie, Simpson, Mack, McCain .. they are doing nothing when they attack our own candidates, whether Santorum or Gingrich, but setting up Obama for a win next November.
Not sure what they think about satan, but Romney, as I understand it, expects to be his own god one day. Obama thinks he already is!
It’s relevant but shouldn’t be discussed? I guess it follows my attitude about Christie. He makes a great candidate as long he never runs.
If he can dredge up something Newt said 20-30 years ago and try to make it relevant, you an be damned sure things Santorum said during the last presidential race, which produced the incumbent he hopes to challenge, are going to be fair game.
This double-standard is just another sad example of Santorum's personal hypocrisy.
Very true. . .in fact, one of the best sermons I ever heard was about how satan is "subtle" and that the most insidious evil gets the foot in the door through that which looks good, sounds good, smells good, tastes good, and feels good!!!
