What Newt was saying is that the free market would and could get gas down to two bucks or thereabouts if government would get the hell out of the way. Hey, $2 sounds about right and doable to me. It was that much what, only eight years ago? Nothing else has doubled in price over that time span. Its inflation is manufactured.

If regulation was pulled back on commerce alone, let alone energy production, you'd see prices go back down so fast it would make your head spin. Listen, this country has the resources to be poised on the verge of a great rebound, if its people and markets were able to pursue happiness.
