Here’s the problem. If Santorum runs as Saint Rick, and he’s already being tagged that way,he will turn off all those who are sinners. There’s a lot more of those people than saints. Then you get nothing.
A bit of balance is perhaps called for.

There are two aspects to this statement. Firstly, Santorum’s statements are no more bold now than previous statements. It's simply a matter of being the front runner in the Republican nomination process, the media will scrutinize everything he says. Such is always the case with Republicans. Secondly, if a candidate does start bending to the criticism from the media and becomes the perfect politically correct candidate, you end up with John McCain, and the media will still attack.
The media can go to *ell. Let our candidates tell it like it is.

Murder is murder ~ most of your garden variety sinners don’t get involved in that ~ maybe you do, but not the rest of us. I don’t kill babies either, nor do I approve of that practice ~ so utterly primitive and barbaric.

When the saints can't win, I think that's how God's judgement works. You get nothing but a hard road.
