Yes Texas is an open primary in that you don’t register to vote by party affiliation. When you go to the polls to vote on primary day you select which party you wish to vote in and are bound by that selection for any runoff election.

I posted a link to the data up thread which gives you the break outs of party IDs as stated by the respondents.

Thanks. We have an open primary in Tennessee as well. As our state get more and moe Red that is less of a problem with crossover mischief makers.

I agree that the faith based message plays well in Texas, here, too. I am still supporting Newt because I like the Plans he is proposing on the Issues. Couldn’t care two hoots about “baggage”. That weapon is used by people who fear he will send them packingfrom their lontime cushy nest in Washington.

I will vote for Santorum if he is the nominee, as long Romney is not part of the ticket. No Romney, not no how!
