(Reuters) - An Egyptian court will start the trial on February 26 of activists from mostly American civil society groups accused of working illegally in Egypt, in a case which has strained U.S.-Egyptian ties.

A judicial source told Reuters that the 43 accused, including around 20 Americans, would go on trial next Sunday, charged with working in the country without proper legal registration.

The state new agency MENA said the hearing would take place at North Cairo Criminal Court.

Investigators swooped down on the offices of civil society groups on December 29, confiscating computers and other equipment and seizing cash and documents.

The American defendants have been banned from leaving Egypt and some have taken refuge in the U.S. embassy. Among those accused is Sam LaHood, Egypt director of the International Republican Institute and the son of the U.S. transportation secretary.

"The date of the first hearing in the case of foreign funding involving foreign civil society organizations has been set for February 26," a judicial source told Reuters.

McCain to the rescue!

Send a military ship and give the Egyptians FOUR hours ultimatum to bring the American citizens held hostages on board. If not, flatten Cairo.

I remember a 30 years or so old story, when several Russian diplomats were held hostages in Beirut and the kidnappers asked for a lot of money to release them. The Russians kidnapped a couple of Arabs, and the next day, they sent to the kidnappers a package with three severed fingers. “If you don’t free our people, tomorrow you’ll get two bloodied noses in the next package”.

24 hours later, the Russian diplomats were back home in Moscow.

I wonder how many of the 43 are Code Pink/Soros operatives that trained up and supervised the riots and Coup d’etat in Egypt.

And exactly WHAT are these 43 people going to be charged with — WTF is “working in the country without proper legal registration?” Does the Muslim Brotherhood intend to execute these 43 hostages?

First thing, the U.S. freezes ALL foreign aid to Egypt. Second, the U.S. freezes all Egyptian funds in financial institutions under U.S. control. If the Mooslimes still don’t get it, take out the Aswan High Dam. Let the Egyptians figure out what to do as they regress into the stone age; without Aswan, things go dark and the water for agriculture ceases. On second thought, most Egyptians do live in the stone age so it won’t be much of a transition.
