As for the census and BLS adjustments:
There was not a big increase in discouraged workers,"economist Betsey Stevenson commented on Twitter. 'What happened was Census found a bunch of old people we had assumed died.'" Read more: here No one disappeared it's just that old fogies don't participate as much so BLS can ignore a portion of the new old geezers -- less participation smaller unemployment rate, liars figure.
