Top GOP Senator Says ‘If Romney Loses Michigan, We Need a New Candidate’
ABC News ^ | Feb 17, 2012 | Jonathan Karl

A prominent Republican senator just told me that if Romney can’t win in Michigan, the Republican Party needs to go back to the drawing board and convince somebody new to get into the race. “If Romney cannot win Michigan, we need a new candidate,” said the senator, who has not endorsed anyone and requested anonymity. The senator believes Romney will ultimately win in Michigan but says he will publicly call for the party to find a new candidate if he does not. “We’d get killed,” the senator said if Romney manages to win the nomination after he failed to win the state in which he grew up. “He’d be too damaged,” he said. “If he can’t even win in Michigan, where his family is from, where he grew up.” What about Rick Santorum? “He’d lose 35 states,” the senator said, predicting the same fate for Newt Gingrich. It would have to be somebody else, the senator said. Who? “Jeb Bush,” the former Florida governor.

The pic is of Gov. Christie of NJ. A little right-clicking on the image properties would have settled it :)

I too have heard that Romney/Santorum is the plan, and if there were some way to bring that out, now, Santorum’s fan club would collapse. However, it won’t be apparent until it’s too late. The scales won’t fall from anyone’s eyes until June at the earliest.

How come every picture I see of Little Stevie Dunham - he’s got his legs crossed like my Aunt Trudi?
************************
I’m alnost 70 and I tried several times to sit with my legs crossed like women do. Could only do so for about 10 seconds before the pain was too bad.

I’ve NEVER understood how a man can sit like that, but we see them doing so in the movies and on TV, as well as invarious meetings. How? It’s very painfull!!!

As the Pillsbury dough boy rises, so will Newt, you say. There ain’t enough yeast in the world for THAT job!

And there ain't enough aspirin in the world to prevent Rick Santorum from accepting a compromise (soon to be known as the Mitt/Rick conversion).

At least Romney is falling in the polls. I hope that one way or another Romney gets left out of the equation, but this deal says a lot about Santorum’s character doesn’t it? Just what we need, a big spender with no Plan, driven by raging ambition so strong that it overcomes honesty and integrity, sleazy, backroom deal makin’ politician. And you are absolutely right..there are none so blind as those who Will Not See.

Since the main reason that a huge percentage of people are voting for Santorum is that he is Not Romney, I wouldn’t think that those folks would be too happy to see them on a ticket together. That may not be a problem for you, but I hate to see the arrogant Party hacks manipulate elections, and it happens every election, in both parties.

If Romney continues to fall in the polls, or Newt gets enough delegates to keep the deal from happening, maybe the endgame will change.

Thank you.

I didn’t know about the right-clicking bit. And now I do.

In a country this large...we have to have a qualified conservative that isn’t named Bush.

I've yet to see a qualified candidate who is named Bush.
