Psycho Freep:Or if Newt can hang in there and create a Brokered Convention, we can put a stop to this insanity.
- - - - -
sand88:I think that would be a disaster for Newt. Rick would just throw is support to Mitt and take the VP slot.

Psycho Freep: And for once, I am all for a third party. What else would we have to lose if it comes down to that?
- - - - -
Sand88:I am leaning towards a third party push at this point.
It is looking more and more that the GOP-e is succeeding in taking down Newt. I have no faith in the Republican electorate becoming well informed enough to see what is happening. Freepers are highly tuned to the shenanigans but most other people see to make uninformed decisions. It is frustrating.

Sarah Palin doesn’t fear a brokered convention and I think she is for Newt Gingrich. There’s no telling how many delegates Santorum would have to toss to Romney, but I think you’re right that it’s his plan to do precisely that.
You’re so right regarding the average voter. They’re swept up by “polls” and just follow along, without independent research. Heck, they vote according to vicious attack ads they claim to hate. I give you Iowa and Florida for two sterling examples.
Newt can handle it!
Rick’s career history is that he comes out of nowhere and fights the establishment for about 2 minutes. As soon as he picks up traction, the establishment takes him in the smoky backroom, tells him how things work around here, and he mutters “yes, sir” while agreeing to do everything they say, as long as he’s allowed to stay pro-life and anti-gay marriage. Then they promise to help him set up a “charity” where he can keep 2/3rds of the profits and make sure that all his buddies get hooked up with sweet lobbying jobs.
Right, so that means you and I won’t watch Faux tonight and we will stay happy and smart!
Rick didn’t withdraw from the Trump debate. That was before the establishment got to him and they came to the agreement that it appears they have.
Maybe they have better things to do, like win an election in upcoming Primary states, than tour the San Diego Zoo.
I'm sure feeding the Pandas is the ideal strategy to keep your nemesis's Mittens and Santorum from winning in MI, AZ and OH. I guess Newt is doing so will in the polls he can afford to blow off some time at the zoo.
Newt will use this to his advantage. Ne knows his enemy even better than we do.
I would have voted for Santorum, as I’ve said before, if he got the nomination. I now realize that he and Romney are on the same team. Santorum is young and he won’t mind being Romney’s VP or vice versa.
Since No One, apparently including Rick Santorum, knows what he wants to do if he’s elected, another nationally televised debate would have given us another chance for him to tell us what that is. So far, all I know about him is that he spent our tax dollars like a drunken sailor and has placed himself on a pedistal as a moral authority.
Now he has exposed himself as sneaky and untrustworthy. So no, I will not vote for him now, even if he gets the nomination. When are we going to get enough of the dirty deals and demand some integrity in our elections?
They are playing into Obama’s hands.
The GOP elite is ready to lose with Mitt/PRick, rather than win with Newt, because they know he’s going to shake their but.s.
They torpedoed him once in 1997, when they were associated in the democrats’ cabal with baseless charges against the Speaker, otherwise Newt was going to win in 2000 instead of Bush.Jr
They are laughing. I sometimes watch PMSNBC, where lthey hate all Republicans. Those two are laughing stocks. Newt Gingrich is given credit for substance, then smeared.
Newt should have taken Rick up on his offer when he had the chance..
Santorum voters have been PLAYED, masterfully.
Now, will they have the humility to admit it?
Maybe Newt should have accepted Rick's offer to debate one-on-one back in December. Maybe the Santorum campaign simply got tired of waiting for a reply.
... and it would be more germane that anything Romney would have said, had he attended. I'd like to see Paul and Gingrich in a sit down, like Gingrich had with Cain. That was the best discussion on the situation yet.
You’re right. It’s always been about keeping Sarah Palin OUT and then making certain Rick Perry was OUT and now KEEPING NEWT GINGRICH OUT!!!
GO SARAH!
GO NEWT!
THIRD PARTY IS A-OK WITH ME!
COL WEST IS FROZEN OUT OF HIS DISTRICT!
You mean like having Newts sole and primary backer Sheldon Adelson meeting with both Newt and Romney? You mean like Adelsons people saying the only reason they are backing Newt is because they think Romney is the better candidate and they want to skunk Santorum? You mean that type of back room dealings? One might think that Newt may be the Mittens "Stalking Horse" everyone speaks of at FR.

I see no evidence that Santorum is a stalking horse for Romney, and I think he's a decent conservative, I just think Newt would make a better, more compelling candidate and president.
Rick and Mitt know how the last CNN debate ended. Newt won it hands down and came out with a two digit win in South Carolina. Neither of those two cowards have anything to gain by showing up, they both know they are not boxing in the same category as Newt - his knowledge of the whole government policy spectrum and his debating skills are over their small cerebellums.
Very good. Knock his visit to The World Famous San Diego Zoo, in my home town.
I never could get on board with the “I want Newt but I could vote for Santorum” meme.
Santorum is a misogynistic peacock who’s made fools of his supporters.
