Lou, it wasn’t liberals who elected Jimmy Carter; it was social conservatives on the rebound from the Republican corruption of Watergate.

Back in 1976 there was this soft-spoken Georgia governor named Carter who taught Sunday school and had a good solid marriage and a fine family. He was definitely a Washington ‘outsider’.

Many people, my self included, made the most embarrassing poltical mistake of our lives voting for Carter. I’m not a liberal but definitely a conservative.

My vote for Carter in 1976 is why I research candidates for national elections and post my discoveries here on Free Republic. I won’t get fooled again.

I am ashamed to admit I made the same mistake. JC came across as a devout Southern Baptist Christian who would not even drink a glass of wine. I was a born again Christian, young and naive. JC is the only Democrat I have voted for in my whole life. He makes me very leery of those who claim to be strong Christians running for offices. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
