Ah, I got it. I was wheels so the closest I came to that aspect was via CCTV piped to the bridge.

Three shore tours - two and a half years at graduate school, three years at Little Creek and two years in Newport.

Toss in 18 months of Navy schools - 6 months division school and 6 months of department head school plus specialty schools and it was a full career.

I had a great uncle in the Merchant Marine who spent a good part of WWII on the Murmansk run. Had two ships sunk from beneath him.

Ah, you made it to the West Coast. The 1st Marine Division is a marine infantry division of the United States Marine Corps headquartered at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California.

I asked for the West Coast and ended going a lot further west than I intended.
