Whatcha wanna bet Gaza is 120 days (or more) in arrears on their diesel payments?

When Hamas took over Gaza during the elections, they became responsible for collecting electric bills. However, most people in Gaza are used to paying bribes, not bills - Hamas is responsible for only 20% of the diesel bill for the power plant, and of course, they're not giving up what money they do happen to collect to the Palestinian authority.

The PA is now responsible for buying and providing diesel to the plant, and it is their own rules which is plunging Gaza into the dark. The calls, however, aren't from the PA - it's from Hamas, as if they can actually start providing the electricity AND they don't collect on bills, they figure that they'll have even more power in Gaza.

Meanwhile, hundreds die each year from accidents involving small generators - improper ventilation, fires, etc. The fuel supply goes through an Israeli checkpoint terminal - which means that Hamas would require PA authorization to get any fuel from outside the strip - that's not going to happen, so now the call to smuggle in enough fuel to run the plant.

Mind, this plant only supplies a fraction of the power required in the Gaza strip - but without it, the entire electrical distribution system falls apart as people try to overwhelm the Israeli (and Egypitian) energy sources.

Yep, just yet another day in the hell hole of Islam.

Yep, just yet another day in the hell hole of Islam.

And thousands of otherwise intelligent people, world leaders even, want to give these people a state of their own to run.

The Palies could do us all a favor -- by drowning in their own bile.
