Sounds like we're living .... where?
10 years ago, my daughter was still in HS and had a NYS "Junior" drivers license that entitled her (at that time) to drive to and from an after school job. At my insistence, she obtained a letter from her employer stating that she was employed by them and listing her (evening) work hours. Then, one night, the dreaded phone call came; she had been in an accident and the police were on the scene. I drove over and arrived, just as the police officer finished issuing her two tickets - one, for passing on a one lane road and the 2nd for driving after dark with a Junior drivers license. I asked my daughter to show the officer the letter from her employer. After reading it, he shrugged his shoulders and disqualified it since she had a Junior NYS drivers license.
Now I know the laws continue to increase but the law authorizing holders of Junior NYS licenses has been on the books since I began driving (more than 40 years ago). Surprised at his ignorance of this law, I held my ground. He stepped away, opened the door of his county issued police car and extracted a book. At first glance, I thought it was a Bible! The book was massive in size and just as thick. No ... it was the most current issue of NYS driver laws. He rapidly thumbed through it, declared that he saw no law allowing Junior drivers to drive after dark, then handed the two tickets to my daughter.
When I complained, the officer again shrugged his shoulders, said he was from Iowa and couldn't wait to leave NYS. When my daughter (and I) showed up at court on the date of her hearing, the court threw out the 'driving after dark' charge .... because she had the letter proving she was validly employed at the time of the accident, which is in conformity with NYS law.
The nation we love has turned into one filled with federal laws that govern us from the time we wake until the following day. Not to be outdone, the states in which we reside, have issued their own laws. How is a proud American to keep track of ALL these laws?! These are the same tactics employed in socialist nations where secularism rules and government is their god.
It is time to take back our nation and our states!
Amen, and Amen. There was a thread posted earlier in the year that said there were tens of thousands of new laws going into effect this year (as every other year), accross the nation (I believe it was 40,000). There are something like 10,000 pages to the Federal criminal code. There are so many laws, it is literally IMPOSSIBLE to know all of them let alone keep all of them. Consider that the avergae person knows about 3,000 words in their native language, maybe 5,000 if they are particularly literate/verbose (say a journalist, or lawyer). There are so many laws, that people commit on average 3 felonies per day, at the Federal level—alone!
And you’re right, the states have their own gaggle of laws. God did not intend for man to be ruled with an iron fist. There’s no choice, no growth, no “nothing” under that life. It’s merely an ever increasing living hell. And people need to wake up, now.
