Pro-Romney Group Buys $500,000 In Michigan TV Ads (Newt Targeted)
NY Times ^ | February 13, 2012 | Jeremy W. Peters

Mitt Romney is getting some heavy air support in Michigan — the state where he was born and raised — as the “super PAC” supporting him invests almost $500,000 on television ads there.

According to someone who tracks Republican media spending, Restore Our Future has committed just over $470,000 for commercials starting Tuesday and set to run through Feb. 20. That marks the group’s largest purchase yet in Michigan, where it will have spent more than $700,000 on ads by next week.

The group said Monday that it would continue for now to run an ad called “Risk” that targets Newt Gingrich using images and attacks that have by now become familiar advertising fodder. It cites the proliferation of earmarks during his tenure as House speaker and shows a shot of him sitting with Nancy Pelosi on a couch in front of the Capitol, a shot taken from a public service announcement on global warming.

There's no conspiracy. Santorum wants to be president, just like Newt and Romney.

1. The polls just came out this weekend.

2. TV buys are often decided weeks or months in advance.

3. Santorum is speaking at a big Oakland County Republican fundraiser this week. That is the middle of Romney's base. Romney got scared enough to send his wife Ann as a surrogate there at the last minute.

Is Santorum the greatest in history? No. However, Newt's not campaigning here, in third or fourth place in both Michigan polls, and Ron Paul will get about 15% like normal. I'm sure as hell ain't voting for Romney.

This same narrative was used against just about all of the other candidates at one time or the other when they surged - accusations they were acting as tools of ‘the establishment’ to help Romney. Bachmann, Cain, etc. All of them. They think we don’t remember.

Here’s yet more evidence that Santorum and Romney are in a tag team to target Newt:

Is this true about Santorum’s voting record?

Yes it is. Pathetic but he does have his little puppets who can't read only listen as he pulls their strings. They are like the dumb@**es who voted for Barry who bought the lie while the truth was there.

Here's what's going to happen thanks to Obama that would be bad for everybody, religious or not.

I can't speak for other religions, but Catholic organizations are not going to violate their beliefs, regardless of what Obama says. What they will do instead is drop coverage completely or close down hurting everybody. Does she want that? I don't.

You are wasting your time. They just don’t want to see it. They refuse to acknowledge the american electorate as it is. They wish it was more like them. They hope it will be more like them in November. It won’t. Being burned last time is all they remember, and they are mad as hxxx. So mad they don’t realize they are being taken down the path to another Democratic win. Different path this time, but the same end result.

I fully support Santorum’s values and politics, and maybe he’ll take the nomination, but against Obama, he’ll be no match in electability. They don’t see it . . . because they don’t want to face the unfortunate reality of our culture.

Are you sure? Isn’t there something subliminal in things like this put out by Santorum to indicate his main target is Newt?

If Santorum should ever want my vote, he’ll have to come out and admit those votes were wrong and hurt us all. Not just the gun votes, either, all of them.

But I know he won’t. He still thinks we’re stupid troglodites, and I won’t vote for anyone that has his attitude.

He’s targeting Newt because he knows Newt is the heavyweight. He believes he’ll stomp Santorum down easily, later.

Mitt been preparing for this win full time since ‘08. Three years to get his plan together and rally those to help him. Who was outspoken for him in ‘08? Rick is one. Do you really think bishop romney entered this race solo and not have so called conservatives as his buffers - who are so power hungry and looking for political favors not to play the game with the GOP E? He’s been wooing them all along.

I find it hard that some are so politically naive.

I think there is the strong flavor of sour grapes in some peoples mouths. It's just weird. Why would anyone tied for 1st go through hell campaigning so the other guy can win? Particularly when you are winning! If anyone knows he won't win and is trying to help Mitt, it's Ron Paul! The same PAC is running anti-Rick ads. If the sole resason is to get rid of Mitt, why would they do that?

"This is Romney betting that all of Newt's support will flow to him. He might be right."

Nope. Dead wrong. I don't know a single Newt supporter that has Romney as #2 choice. And I know a LOT of Newt supporters.

“I think the consensus is that he’d certainly be on the list, whether he’d want to or not,” Gingrich said. “He’s a very competent person. This is a very serious man. I would certainly support him if he became the Republican nominee.”

You responded to me wherein it was proven that was not true, then repeat the same thing to another person a couple of posts down. You are acting as a propagandist.
