Part of the reason that Santorum went down so hard was because of the deceit of his opponent. Another part of it was that he was one of the only people in Congress to actually stand up for the mission of our troops in Iraq while all the rest were cowering in the corner. It was a very bad year all around.

I believe that Newt could be a very strong President, and definitely 'conveys the message' well, but when it came down to deciding between the two, I chose Santorum.

That said, I will fight tooth and nail for Newt, if he is the nominee, in spite of my reservations about him.

I feel the same way about Rick Santurom as you do about Newt. But really, you can not explain away a 17 point defeat by saying it was a bad year. McCain did not even come close to losing that badly. And I am afraid that Mr. Obama will use deceit against anyone who runs against him. I am not convinced. And by the way, I am an Eagle Scout so I was not putting down scouts, but I was a boy of 16 years and not ready to fight a gun fight I assure you.
