In 2008 when my wife, Gena, and I were on the campaign trail backing former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee for president, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum was fighting to get former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney elected. (Listen in this video how Santorum passionately endorsed and elevated Mitt in his bid for the Oval Office.)
Just three years ago in his interview with radio host and conservative commentator Laura Ingraham, Santorum also emphatically told millions of listening Americans: If youre a conservative, if youre a Republican, there is only one place to go, and thats Mitt Romney.

Ditto.
I’m just hoping we can pick up 4 more senate seats. anything beyond that will be a pleasent surprise.
Deliberately lying about Newt for his own gain is not what I consider a positive. You may since you support him. No matter what he'll never get my vote. Liars for their own gain are repulsive to me. He has a lot in common with mitt with their deliberately lying to American voters - and that's not conservative nor patriotism. So whatever he 'says' is coming out of a lying heart/mouth.
Got anything to back up this revenge theory? Just curious.
As you know, currently and in 2008, Mitt’s real enemies are the conservatives.
By some accounts, Mitt wasn’t merely at the 1964 convention, but that he was down on the floor and joined his father in formally marching off the floor in protest against the conservatives, and Goldwater’s nomination. In 1968 the right made a laughing stock of his father’s anti-war campaign for the presidency. Romney claims that his mother ran on a pro-abortion platform for the Senate in 1970, that race was actually supposed to be the way that the Nixon administration ushered out George Romney.
Romney did not vote for Reagan, he would not even register Republican until after Reagan was gone, Mitt became a donater to, and even a fund raiser for democrats and was even fund raising for Planned Parenthood after re registering Republican in Oct. 1993. Mitt was anti Contract with America, and spoke out against the “Jesse Helms types” in the Senate.
Throw in a perfect, unbroken record of no Romney man ever serving our nation in uniform during their 171 year history here (neither patriotism nor the draft has ever snagged one) and you can see a pattern.
Romney is only still in this race because Chuck Norris allows Romney to still be in this race.
Despite his jabber, the man is demonstrably a RINO with no conservative principles in his congressional record of service.
Mark said he did it to try and stop McCain. In that regard he was half-right, Flip Romney would have been just as crappy- history will soon show if he's nominated.
Mark has a great analytical mind with lawyerly discipline, but his 'instincts' frankly suck.
Recall Ms. Bachmann, and how he touted her cred. She and her 23 children got old so quick I couldn't throw enough money at the freeway off-ramp sign holders. And Cain, who he though so much of with his 9-9-9. Little did we know that was the number of babes he hit on while schlopping pizzas.
Which brings us to today: Santorum. Some people focus on electability (Romney-ites). What we need to focus on is 'defeatablility'. As in: who can best DEFEAT Obama. Romney with his RomneyCare wrapped around his neck? Santorum with Earmarks and pro-Bush votes tied to his Pennsylvania loss? Paul would be a forfeit, no chance of defeating a youthful, toothful, Marxist (in a different body his chances would be entirely different and Obama would be toast).
That leaves us with Gingrich- married three times (did Obama have three fathers? Kenyan, Indonesian, Hawaiian, Trinity-an, Chicago-an, etc.) and yet, is the one 'everyone' goes out of their way to destroy (like Palin). When the Left (or the Right) train their guns on someone, you should pay attention. They could attack anyone of the other candidates, but they don't- why?
I'll tell you why- they fear what a Gingrich or Palin could do to their pencil-necked, telepromter reader in a debate. Newt would throw bare knuckles like this phony in the White House has never seen and would flatten him in the first round. His record stinks and Newt would make him wear it like cologne. As in most other things, opposites DO attract and the differences between Newt and Buraq couldn't be greater in spite of what the media (MFM) tries to say. Those people who know America is in grave danger would see Newt as direct opposite to Oblame-o, making the choice for them much easier.
Newt's 'electability' may be questionable today (polls) but his 'defeatability' of the worst President since Carter is yet to be tested. THAT's when the only poll that matters takes place- election time. What Newt could do to this phony between now and then will determine how that "poll" turns out. Enough to keep Axelrod up at night. And Karl Rove, which should beg a question of more than a few who support Mitt(ens). Why? 'Cause I'm not doing McCain II. Too much is at stake and I want a guy who'd fight like I would to rid this country of the greatest threat to liberty this country has ever faced.
Mark Levin is the best thing to happen to radio with his defense of the constitution and his scholarly revealing of the many detours we've taken from it. His Ameritopia is a work of art that'll out-live us all and may be key in the restoration of the America many of us remember and will fight to preserve for our progeny. The children who'll benefit from his insights haven't even been born yet. And, if we don't succeed this year many of them never will, they'll be sacrificed on the alter of 'convenience' to a state that worships itself, for itself, and by itself.
We all know the only reason Levin endorsed Romney was sheer horror of McCain, and the reluctace with which he made the endorsement was painful at the time. Frankly, it was one of the few times I've disagreed with Levin; Romney would have been worse.
Levin is also inexplicably conflicted when it comes to Santorum. One minute he's ranting (and rightly) on the destructiveness of the minimum wage, and in the next, talking about Santorum as a pretty good conservative, when Santorum is on record of voting SIX TIMES to raise the minimum wage!!!! MaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrK! Snap out of it!
I disagree with him now about Gingrich, and side with Thomas Sowell. Gingrich wants to make English the official government language. He states flatly that mandates on health insurace are out because they're wrong, and says instead he'd work to see insurance policies able to be bought and sold across state lines, and people get tax write-offs for having insurance, including Health Savings Accounts (a very smart way to go). The list goes on and on.
Three years ago -- only three years ago! your guy was apparently still lovin' Romney, unless (and it's possible) Chuck Norris has taken Santorum's words on Ingraham's show totally out of context.
Godspeed Newt Gingrich.
Yeah, I noticed. I also notice that a lot of them think that the reason folks like you and me reject Santorum is because we "hate" him. We're just cutting lose with "deranged hatefulness" when we talk about his Churchy self-righteousness, supporting the labor unions, fighting against food stamp reductions, and voting all kinds of taxpayer funds for Head Start, etc.
"Hatred." "Deranged hatefulness." Hmmmmmmm ... What candidate's supporters' MO of four years ago does that remind you of?
I Forgot About Rick’s bad judgement then and will now consider this reminder in my personal issues
Have you all noticed? Newt Gingrich in South Carolina brought along massive gains in turnout record turnout, in fact. The Jan. 21 South Carolina primary drew about 602,000 voters, a 35% increase over 2008. The enthusiasm was there.
In Florida the turnout was low - less than 1.65 million versus 1.95 million in 2008. In Nevada the turnout was almost 50% lower than in 2008. The caucuses turnout were catastrophic. The enthusiasm was NOT there.
Republicans have NEVER fared well when nominating a moderate-to-liberal presidential candidate, ex: Sen. Bob Dole and Sen. John McCain. If any of them, would become the nominee, Santorum (who doesn’t fare well among independents) or Romney (the Teleprompter candidate II), easily could be to the 2012 presidential race what Mr. Dole was in 1996 or Mr. McCain was in 2008.
If the Republican voters dont defeat the GOP establishment now, its unlikely they will be able to do that in the future. In 2010 they fought, elected and sent a strong majority in the House. Once in Washington, WHAT exactly has that majority done? Other than giving Obama a pass, voting three times to increase the debt limit?
Whats more, even if either Santorum of Romney “win” in November, I don’t think that you can count on a Republican Congress to stop their cronyism with lobbyist sharks, and the companies bailed on American people’s money. They would accommodate the actual system, rather than profoundly changing it.
It’s enough to read their plans for the future of America.
“You know, economics is my profession, and I’ve specialized in it all my life, especially public policy economics. I feel sort of like a doctor in a hospital, choosing which surgeon is going to operate on my child. And, you’ve got a bunch of good candidates out there but Newt Gingrich has done it before. His plan is pure and simple supply-side Reaganomics all the way.” — Art Laffer, former Ronald Reagan’s economic adviser.
Ed Rollins, National Campaign Manager for President Reagan, sets the record straight about Newt’s work with Reagan:
“I’m going to straighten it out once and for all: Gingrich was a very important congressional ally. Congressmen aren’t in the White House all day long, and they’re not basically giving advice. But he and Jack Kemp and Trent Lott and others were among 10 or 12 most important players and most loyal to Ronald Reagan.”
There is a chasm between Newt and the other contenders. No one can hold him a candle as far as intelligence, knowledge and experience are concerned. He has been preparing himself for the task of reestablishing America prosperity and greatness for years. Just read his “ The 21st century Contract with America”, released in September 2011.
http://www.newt.org/news/why-we-need-21st-century-contract-america
He knows what is need to be done decisively and fast to launch the American people on the prosperity path once again. He has the knowledge, experience and dedication to do it.
Newt is the American president the country needs NOW.
Forgot to ping you to my previous post
Retired U.S. Marine Corps officer Oliver North said he would like to see Newt Gingrich as commander in chief, saying that another four years of Barack Obama would be
a nightmare.
North said at the Conservative Political Action Conference that two years ago, when Gingrich suggested he might run, he asked for my support. I pledged I would do it.”
Its time for us to hire a commander in chief who doesnt feel necessary to run around the world apologizing for America, said North.

Actually from what I see the moderates hate Santorum over the social issues. They may not like Newt, but they *HATE* Santorum.
I don’t like him because I don’t see him as a fiscal conservative, and I don’t see him as electable. He lacks charisma and ideas, a deadly combination.
Precisely.
And all of Juan Williams's bleatings prove same.
Good article from Mr. Norris.
Wow, very good post! If your bad ones are better than they must be spectacular!
I think this site has many of those same quotes you listed, and lets you drill down into them to see excerpts of the speeches/interviews/debates they come from...

——————I have 3 words for you..Romney, Sonia Sotomyer and Spector-——————
You appear to be advocating Santorum with this statement, considering that Santorum’s reason for supporting Specter was his one relatively bright spot, and that was judges.
Romney is known for his support for activist judges.

Too bad we didn’t know about all this in 2008, otherwise guys like Levin, Cain, and Santorum wouldn’t have been endorsing him in 2008.
The fact of the matter is that Romney was the best choice three years ago. That’s not the case today. He is the worst.
