I appreciate the post, but I wish that the article had been written in a more straightforward way — rather than dripping with innuendo and sarcasm.
Why not also do like the movie “Sister Act” and get a few Nun’s to walk/stand in front of the business and ‘shame’ the customers as they attempt to enter?
In Nuremberg, Germany, in the old city, prostitution is legal, and two American soldiers decided to go there to check it out.
From the point of view of the first soldier, while the two walked down the long line of rental rooms with prostitutes in the windows, he kept saying “she’ll do, she’ll do”, interspersed with the occasional, “pass”, but his friend remained silent.
Finally reaching the end, the first soldier said to the second one, “What’s the matter? Didn’t any of them look good enough for you?”
The second one finally spoke, and nervously said, “I’m looking for a nice girl who is a Catholic...”
The first soldier rolled his eyes and said, “This is northern Germany! They’re ALL Catholics!”
Then he yelled out, “Wer von euch sind Katholiken?”, or something like that, and about half a dozen girls put up their hands. One didn’t, explaining that she was Orthodox, not Roman Catholic.
Ah, Europe.
And while a small convent, more or less, on Chicago’s west side won’t ever make much of a difference to Michelle and Barack Obama,Not to get too picky but Stone Park is hardly "more or less, on Chicago’s west side". It's a Western Suburb with at least two other Suburbs -- could be three -- between it and 'Chicago's west side'.
But as to the article itself Stone Park has always been pretty much 'lawless' where almost anything goes. From a corrupt Police Dept and the town itself controlled by the Chicago Outfit (Mob). And iirc Stone Park 'had' elected town officials who were also made members of 'The Outfit'. It's that kind of place and will never change
So the fact is that the Club will go up, the Hookers, oops - 'Dancers', will ply their trade, and The Outfit will rake in its share of the money off the top. And not the Nuns, Obama, or anyone can stop it.
Stone Park is a place where the Speed Limit says 25 MPH they mean 25 MPH so you better be going 25 MPH or under. Go close to 30 MPH and you are busted, it's Speed Trap City [And that's it's good point].
I don’t see the problem. If they’re in the business of saving souls, why should they object when the work comes to them? Unless they’re only interested in the ‘right’ kind of souls.
