The Whispers in the Loggia blog (WITL) has obtained a bishops-only internal briefing that was circulated soon after President Obamas announcement of his HHS regulation compromise....what follows is the text of tonights internal, bishops-only briefing, obtained by Whispers and signed by the aforementioned quintet: the conference president, Cardinal-designate Timothy Dolan of New York, and the benchs committee chairs for Pro-Life Activities, Cardinal Daniel DiNardo of Galveston-Houston; Doctrine, Cardinal Donald Wuerl of Washington; Domestic Policy, Bishop Stephen Blaire of Stockton, and the newly-formed arm on Religious Liberty, Bishop William Lori of Bridgeport. Here is the briefing:

I don't mind being associated "Catholics" who accept socialism, birth control and abortion because any such association would false and a creation of their own delusion.
Oh, and you and many others here make that asssociation as well.
That's the part I have trouble with.
Fair enough. I think I see your point. Since neither one of us agree with the liberal positions (which we both seem to agree are inherently evil), let's agree on that.
Thanks.
In my post #84 posted the names of all Democrat Catholics in the House and Senate, and said: "Now, you tell me: do you think these horrible people are following God's word, commandments, and law? Do you think they love and submit to Jesus Christ? No? Neither do I." I stand by that. These people are not my brothers and sisters in Christ. Do you really believe that these Obama and Liberal allies are standing up for the Gospel of Jesus Christ? Really? Good heavens - look at their actions, their statements, their votes, their defiance of God. Do you have ears? Do you have eyes?
Moreover, Christ Himself said this:
38Teacher, said John, we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us. 39 Do not stop him, Jesus said. For no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, 40 for whoever is not against us is for us. 4o
Mark 9: 38-40
He also said a tree is known by it's fruit. I specifically cited these Democrats as not my brothers and sisters, and I stand by that. These "Catholic Democrats" are not on Christ's side. They are not on my side. Period. Dot.
What you tried to do is a standard liberal technique, which is twist something into the "but you said this" when I never said that in order to attempt to twist the debate in your favor.
Now, if you like, I can debate all of the problems I do have with Catholicism that are not Biblical (i.e. the church as the source of Salvation instead of Jesus, water baptism vs. baptism by faith, "infallibility" of the Pope, the veneration of Mary and her elevation as a co-redemmer and savior, transubstantiation, the sacraments vs. a personal faith in Jesus Christ, and other topics. On those, the Catholic church is on the wrong side of God's word.
Stop being lame and dishonest: You dismissed all Catholics, not just the 54% you cited or the pols you listed. Such a dismissal is decidedly NOT the mark of a follower of Christ.
Yes, his game is “lots of Catholics sin so Catholicism must be false, so if you are Catholic your religion is false”.
By that logic, Jesus was a fraud since every single one of his followers to this day is a scandalous sinner.
Hey sherlock, you effed up when you said this, which condems 46% of all Catholics by association:
“any group that would vote with 54% or so for a man like Barack Obama are not my brothers and sisters in Christ. No way.”
Stop pretending that your point is pure in any way.
Like being "black" matters to Michelle Obama, it seems being "Catholics" is the only critieria you value anyway.
P.S. Stop telling people they "$%^& up" and other such things on the forum. It doesn't sell your stance very well.

(and if a former Catholic who never read the catechism and the bible wants to blame that on someone besides himself, then that says a lot about that former Catholic)
