I could settle on Jeb, but don’t prefer him. I will never settle on Romney. I wish Jindal was eligible. He is the best one out there.

** Pounds head on desk **

Children of immigrants are “natural-born citizens,” as every person must be a natural-born citizen of somewhere. This is all based on a thoroughly ignorant reading of some French dude’s assertions of “naturels,” a term which has been improperly translated as “natural-born citizen,” but would be better translated as “indigenous.” Why in God’s name conservatives think we should look to a Frenchman’s writings to define American law is beyond me.

The notion of “natural” in “natural-born” refers to natural law, not to indigenous peoples. Emmerich Vattel’s definition, if applied to the U.S. Constitution at the time of its framing, would have created an obvious and absurd legal condition: Immigrants to America during the colonial era would be eligible for the presidency, because they did not need to be born in a country which had not existed, yet... but their children would not be eligible, since they did not fit Vattel’s definition of “natural-born!”
