Rush Limbaugh mocked the Republican establishment on his radio show Wednesday for being “shocked” by Rick Santorum’s three-state win, saying, “I can’t believe how insulated they are.”
“They’re literally shocked. The Republican establishment had no idea this was percolating out there. I can’t believe how insulated they are,” Limbaugh said. “To look at the reaction they’re having today, to see how shocked they are that Rick Santorum has come out of what they thought was an impossible position equivalent to nowhere, is an incredible thing.”
The “drive-bys” – a term that Limbaugh has coined for the media – have been crediting the conservative radio talker for Santorum’s trifecta victory Tuesday by spreading around the notion that “the Republican base is a bunch of mind-numbed robots sitting out there waiting for marching orders from me,” the conservative radio show host said.
“First it was Newt, now it’s Santorum. It can’t be the candidates. It can’t be that Santorum’s connecting with voters. It can’t be that, no, no, it can’t be that Santorum’s resonating with Republican voters, the conservative base. It can’t be that the conservative base just isn’t happy with Romney. It can’t be any of that. No, no, no,” he said, according to a transcript of the show.

Of course, that was right after all his troubles and he may have been on a short leash. But I wouldn't take anything he says at face value.
As I recall, everyone was on the W bandwagon in '04. Remember the "Rove You Magnificent Bastard" posters? Times change.
Look, no one is perfect and Santorum has made his mistakes, but so has Newt. Why are so many around here conviently forgetting who Newt Gingrich is?! He's not above criticism and to act like he's some great unshakable conservative is just false. Newt has done a lot of good, but he's also done some things that have made us want to tear our hair out. I'll vote for him if he's the nominee, but I think Santorum is the much better choice.
I am behing Newt 100% and he is the last true conservative standing. C.! just saw on Gallup that Newt has a big lead in NC. Newt will win Georgia and good chance he will win Texas and stay tuned to see if he picks up more delegates from the Fla challenge. WOOT WOOT! Santorum endorsed Sonja Sotomyer and Spector...not good! he voted to not only fund but increase funding for the NEA..National Endowment of the Arts, voted to raise the debt ceiling, CAGW which is a bipartisan, independent taxpayer watchdog site named him PORKER of the month for his earmarks. He supports allowing felons to vote and govt control of wages. Santorum is big govt!

I wonder if David Letterman will now go after Rick. He lashed out against Bachmann and Cain. Now Letterman has become hysterical over Mitt Romney. He keeps repeating over and over the same nasty "jokes" about Mitt.
Letterman has become incredibly boring, repeating the same lame stuff in his frenzy to lash out against Republicans. I have never heard him say anything comparable against Obama. He obviously is pushing a political agenda.

Santorum represents defeat for conservatives. WE told the establishment that we will run if you attack. We wont stand by a candidate that fights, and that we are willing to split our votes all to hell.
We have told Obama that he doesn’t need a billion dollars to run for reelection. We are willing to literally willing to put forward a defeated Senator with no personality or a pathetic governor.

Their plan was to bash Newt in order to help Romney, not to help someone who looks better, with little baggage and is just as conservative as Newt.
I would rather lose with Santorum OR Gingrich than “win” with Romney.
