2012 GOP PRIMARY CAMPAIGN TRACKER JLHNews, May 23, 2012 On May 13, 2012, Ron Paul announced that he would suspend his efforts to campaign in any more state primaries or caucuses that had not been held, but would concentrate his efforts on winning as many delegates as he could from those caucus states that have not finished choosing their delegates in an effort to maximize his delegate count before the convention. This means that the only active candidate left is Mitt romney and he will be the GOP nominee, crossing the 1,144 delegate count required on May 29,2012 with the Texas Primary. On this date, Romney won both the Kentucky and Arkasas Primaries again right at 70% of the vote and all of the 76 delegates available. In the overall race to date, Romney now leads in popular vote with almost 6.8 million votes or over 46%. Santorum (now out of the race) is still second with 3.6 million votes or 24%. Gingrich (now out of the race) is third with 2.6 million votes or 17%, and Ron Paul (now out of the active race) is fourth with 1.6 million votes or 11%. But, although Romney has won 46% of the popular vote, this has translated into 65% of the total delegates awarded to date. Santorum follows with 18%, Gingrich with 9% and Paul with 8%. With Romney at or near 1065 delegates in total, and with 152 delegates up for grabs next Tuesday in Texas, Romney will cross the 1,144 threashold next Tuiesday night making him the official GOP nominee for President. Since Santorum and Gingrich bowed out and endorsed him, he has already been campaigning that way for several weeks. In my opinion, all in all this tough primary season has strengthen all of the candidates, and particularly Mitt Romney. It kept the GOP message at the top of the news cycle, preparing for the fight with Obama, which is now heating up. Here's the GOP Tracking results as of Tuesday, May 23, 2012:

Now that he has the endorsement of all of the major former candidates, once he has the delegates to assure his nomination, I will support Mitt Romney for president against the abject marxist ideolog, Obama. See Why I will support Mitt Romney if he wins the GOP nomination. Simply put, four more years of Obama's horrific leadership and fundamental change could easily put this nation in a economic, debt, foreign policy, and energy hole we will have a very difficult and very painful time of digging our way out of. And then only at the cost of decades of heavy burden placed on our children and grandchildren to reverse the trends and mechanisms Obama is putting in place. Obama's continued actions indicate the abject need for him to be replaced. He and his cohorts attack the free market system and capitlization of businesses as something bad, putting the leaders of those businesses out of touch and making profits at the cost of their workers. He has gone so far to say that in so doing, people like Romney are "raping" the businesses they work with. Clearly, nothing could be further from the truth for a successful company like Bain Capitol. In over 80% of the cases, Bain was successful in turning businesses around that were facing bankruptcy. For a company going under, those are good odds and that is why they hire BAin capitol. As a result, Bain has been a huge net increaser in jobs. Obama as President has not made a single net increase of a single job. It's precisely because he does not understand and even hates the free market system that this is so. He is left only to concentrate on the 20% of the time Bain did not succeed in an attempt to paint something that has been successful, as a failure. Well, in the free market, some companies go out of business and you cannot save them. That's life. Turning the whole nation into a socialist hell-hole to try and avoid that is precisely the wrong answer, and yet is it what Obama has been attempting his entire presidency, increasing our debt by five trillion dollars in less than four years in a vain attempt to do so. Obama has now also come out in open support of Gay and Lesbian marriages. He has been caught off-mic indicating to the Russian President if they will just wait until the election is over and he wins, that he will be at that point much more flexible with nuclear weapons agreements and missile defense agreements than he can be now. He also has spoken improperly to the Supreme Court, attempting to influence their vote as they consider the constitutionality of his Health Care program, indicating he would consider it Judicial Activism if they took the "unprecedented" action of over-turning his Health Care program which barely passed congress in 2010. What is unprecednted is a sitting president speaking this way to try and directly influence the Supreme Court while they are considering the constitutionality of his own program. He is abusing his executive power to try and influence a seperate branch of government, provided with constitutional oversight, to vote a particular way. In addition, his personal involvement in the Treyvon-Zimmerman case in Florida, again, shows him interfering in an ongoing, undecided legal matter, trying to influence it a particular way when a young man was killed, but where there is some strong evidence that the young black man was attacking and beating the latino who killed him. Such cases must be decided through the legal process, and not through public opinion influenced by the press or the President. These are the acts of an individual wholly unprepared and unsuited for leadership at this level. Once again, if you are so inclined, please let others know about this GOP Primary Tracker page.
