Mitt Romney won an impressive 29-percentage point victory in Saturday's Nevada caucuses. For some analysts, the triumph suggested that Romney is well on his way to winning the nomination. For me, the win was expected and confirms my forecast about where the race is heading. Romney maintains his status as the favorite for the Republican nomination, but potential trouble lurks down the road.
Romney maintains a great funding and organizational advantage in comparison to his peers. If he senses any candidate (such as Newt Gingrich) might be a serious challenge, Romney can drown out his opponent with television advertising and establishment endorsements (as Elliott Abrams describes in the National Review). Romney's ability to turn a five-point deficit in Florida into a seven-point lead in three days, with an eventual 14.5-point win, shows what his campaign is capable of doing.
The outstanding issue for Romney, though, is that he has yet failed to break through in a state that doesn't favor him demographically. Think about the states where Romney has done well: New Hampshire, Florida and Nevada. Some are liberal, some are conservative, but they share one demographic feature: they have a below-average percentage of Republican primary (or caucus) voters who identify as born-again Christians or evangelicals. The two states, Iowa and South Carolina, in which Romney has fared poorly have an above-average percentage of Republican primary (or caucus) voters who so identify.
Graphically, the relationship between born-again Christian and evangelical and the Romney vote becomes quite clear. Romney's percentage of the vote as opposed to the proportion won by the conservative alternatives (by now, just Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum) tallies quite closely with the percentage of voters in a state's exit polls who say they are born-again Christian or evangelical.

Either Obama or Romney will destroy what is left of this country. I will not vote if these are the choices.
Ummmm..which of the two is running for President? Never mind. I wouldn't vote for them either.
You’re on target....Look into the book mentioned in the post under the t-shirt. Then contact the RNC and give them your opinion. Their information is on the t-shirt post.
Tell the RNC that. Contact information on t-shirt.
I cannot pull the lever for Romney, period.
I’ve ordered several copies of this book for distribution. I have a local bookstore here that buys/sells/trades. One copy will go there, another to my church, local library, my doctor’s office (she has already told me it will go in the waiting room), and I will pray about the last two copies.
I saw that another Freeper mentioned that Mike Gallagher had talked about the Mormon issue on his program, so I think I will follow their suggestion of contacting him.
We can All do something. What we are doing here is Great, we just need to pray and follow His lead.
God Bless All Freepers!
Just preparing for some charlatan posing as a Christian evangelical to endorse Romney for a price.
Let’s look at more numbers:
2008: about 44,000 Republicans attended caucuses & voted. Mitt got 52% of the vote......about 22,880 votes (by percentage).
2012: only about 33,000 Republicans attended the caucusses, with Mitt getting 50% of the vote with 16,486 votes.
Facts:
25% FEWER Republicans attended the 2012 caucusses in Nevada......
28% fewer persons voted for Romney in the 2012 caucusses.
I don’t know how much Mitt spent here in Nevada, but the last 2 days or so, we were bombarded with 2-3-4 ads back-to-back-to-back.. Newt didn’t have any ads here.
Trump took alot of the credit for Romney’s high finish here in MORMON country.
2 counties-White Pine & Lincoln-next to the Utah border voted more than 60% for Romney. I do not know how many actually went to the caucuses there & cast a vote.
More fact: Mineral County voted highest for NEWT——& LESS than 100 persons voted in that county.
Paul got Nye county in his camp.
Despite being in ‘Mormon Country” Mitt got lots fewer votes this time around than he did in 2008.
Downright pathetic.
With the CRINOs maybe.
No . . . though he can seal our fate.
Unfortunately, too many people see the exposure of actual mormon doctrine as "bigotry", and mormons have cried "persecution" for 180 years.
They don't see that the way that Obama has used "racism" for more than four years will be doubled in spades against mormon racism. No one CARES that blacks were "allowed" to have full membership in 1978...there is way too much documented history of the mormon leadership's racist belief.
No, he can’t. And it isn’t just with Evangelicals.
The Mormon thing is a huge factor.
Mormons are not considered to be a mainstream Christian religion in large swathes of the country. There will be Protestants, and Catholics who have deep reservations about voting a Mormon into the White House because they’ll be afraid it will help promote what they believe to be a false religion. There have also been a number of polls that show that significant numbers of Americans just won’t vote for a Mormon as President.
Good idea. Where did you order several copies?
On line? Is there a link?
not possible
just look at the freak show here on FR when someone mentions mormonism and Christianity
that’s 10-25% of the base. he’d have to make that up with independents.
and that’s how the electoral math works. they know it... and that’s why he’s being queued up. a sure loss for the right
only Sarah can bring out the entire right... and she’d pull a lot of the independents. which is why they attacked her nonstop. she was a threat to progressives.
santorum can pull out the base, but he doesn’t have the buzz, so he’s a nonstarter.
that leaves newt... and many on the right won’t go for him (wife swapping usually doesn’t fly with social conservatives)
all boils down to another 4 for 0failure.
which means... US debt will continue to climb and the dollar will continue to diminish. gold and other commodities will continue to soar. the markets will continue to ‘go up’... as the unit of measure shrinks
i could go on, but it’s all very predictable
“Can Mitt Romney seal the deal with the Christian right?”
Nope. He can’t seal it with any conservative, let alone a Christian conservative.
The only thing that I can do is pray for his salvation... but my earthly vote and support... he will never see.

I join Secure America & Taildragger: I WiLL NOT vote for Romney.
In fact, I'll continue to encourage many others to vote anti-Romney in the primaries...
Should Mitt win the nomination, I will vote third-party and continue to encourage others to do the same.
Furthermore, I will seriously re-evaluate my GOP membership, go independent, & encourage others to do the same.
The GOP continues to be like a Labanite.
Who was Laban?
In the book of Genesis, Laban promised his daughter Rachel to Jacob, but deceptively substituted his other daughter Leah into Honeymoon Central (unbeknownst to Jacob til the light of day).
The GOP Establishment acts like Laban -- forever promising us a "Rachel" candidate...and yet only delivering on those we don't "love"...
Jacob had to work another 7 years to get Rachel.
I say the GOP Establishment will forever turn out wannabe GOP candidates for us to sleep with (remember, Jacob also slept with Leah's and Rachel's servants -- serants, not real wives). They can always count on our anti-Democratic candidate stance to allow them to force-feed anybody they want.
The GOP establishment will give us unreal, non-viable candidates like Dole & Romney (the Zilpahs & Bilhahs of our political lives) -- & deceptively tell us that certain "Leahs" are the candidates we love.
Don't believe a word of it.
In fact, the rebellion needs to be poised that if they keep hand-feeding us RINOs & liberals, the GOP is Whig-bound! It'll evaporate in no time!
The Rebellion is on! And it'll be massive!
A new potential Exodus is brewing!
