Sickening. Public libraries are for research and education.

Porn and other questionable material is for private residences only. It’s so simple, yet obviously way to complicated for our corrupt local governments.

The ACLU has the King County Libraries walking on ice.

This has been going on in the King County Library system as well. As long they have a privacy screen, the libraries take a “its none of our business” approach.

This is just so insane! :-(

Some of the porn on the internet is pure filth, far beyond what most normal folk can even imagine. Even to describe some of it in words is sickening.

If I had glimpsed something like the worst of it when I was a kid I would have been in shock.... I was a kid in the 60’s...my goodness how normal and safe the 60’s were compared to now.

“...censorship” my eye. That’s a lie from the pit of hell. Pornography is the exploitation of humans for the sake of sexual gratification. It’s abhorrent and corrosive to any society.

The Seattle library staff, as well as those like it, are porn peddlers. Plain and simple.

Parents, if you are truly concerned about your child’s psychological, physical, and spiritual well being, either move out of WA, or find an alternative to the public library. You can never erase the images your children see while those perverts are viewing porn.

Have them go to the County Board or the City Council. The library rules ultimately can be dictated by the electeds. The librarians are employees who must implement policy.

All King’s County Freepers should do the following, since the library is on record, saying it’s not in the business censorship..... Log time on their computers, load up this article, and print out $2 worth of copies. Then, yellow highlight the key points, especially and names of officials, and tape the article in areas for all to see. Get the word out that adult men are allowed to import whatever filth into a public library through county govt owned computer servers. Rinse. Repeat.

From what I’ve observed, the American library association pushes libraries to defend and promote pornography and homosexuality, but censor and demonize those who think otherwise. The ALA itself is silent when it comes to defending conservative opinions. They pretend they are defenders of freedom of speech issue, but they’re not. They are always demonizing the political right and stifling their voices.

Unreal? Seattle?
No.. That place is as foul a toilet as San Fransicko.

Anyway, who ever goes to a stinking library anymore besides pedophiles and perverts?

The reason: It’s not in the business of censorship.

BS - if that was the real concern, they could provide enclosures to keep it from being visible to others and insist on earphones. What they really want to do is indoctrinate and desensitize the children.

Isn’t this ‘corruption of a minor?’

Would the library be OK with me handing out porn photos in the childrens’ room?

Or would they mind if my friends and I marched around their front door with giant porn photos on signs?

I am stunned that Seattle doesn’t allow smelly people in the libraries. I would think the ACLU would be against this.

What Julie Howe could have done, what ANY parent or concerned citizen witnessing some dirtbag in the Seattle Public Library watching porn which is easily seen by minors, is to:

a.) Take a quick picture of the perp in front of the computer terminal, preferably with the screen showing the porn being viewed at that moment, date & time stamped.

b.) Call 911 and report a crime in progress, request an officer respond to the library site.

c.) When the officers arrive, present them with the picture taken of the perp, and hand them the following:

9.68.130 - Revised Code of Washington
"Sexually explicit material" — Defined — Unlawful display.

(1) A person is guilty of unlawful display of sexually explicit material if he or she knowingly exhibits such material on a viewing screen so that the sexually explicit material is easily visible from a public thoroughfare*, park or playground or from one or more family dwelling units.

(2) "Sexually explicit material" as that term is used in this section means any pictorial material displaying direct physical stimulation of unclothed genitals, masturbation, sodomy (i.e. bestiality or oral or anal intercourse), flagellation or torture in the context of a sexual relationship, or emphasizing the depiction of adult human genitals: PROVIDED HOWEVER, That works of art or of anthropological significance shall not be deemed to be within the foregoing definition.

(3) Any person who violates subsection (1) of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.

* - as the public library is NOT private property, and is open to the public, the aisles and pathways within that facility may be construed as a 'public thoroughfare'.

Then speak those citizen-empowering words:
"Officer? Do Your Duty, Thank You"

‘The reason: It’s not in the business of censorship.’

Mark Twain.

I’d love to see people watching program that involves people smoking cigaretts.

Simple fix here: Stop patronizing the Library. If you wish to continue however then go in and rip out the computers and toss them into the street.

The mentally ill homeless have a right to porn.

Its in the Constitution ya know...

I wonder if there is a sign that says "feel free to masturbate, just don't take off your shirt or shoes and don't fall asleep, your public library has standards..."
