The Arab Spring is non-existent; it is a term that the naive of the academic world conjured up to make itself feel good. There are no revolutions in the Arab World, only civil wars. Revolutions in the Arab world are akin to elections in the United States—the only thing that changes is who gets to pick your pocket or hold the boot over your neck.
Bingo. This “Arab Spring” invention in the media is nothing more than Sunni/Shiite real politic leveling their respective playing fields. The media isn’t erudite enough to figure this out.
