Yes he is. Santorum is the ONLY viable option that conservatives have. Newt went into Fl the heavy favorite and he lost it big time. Why? Because he went ballistic when confronted with Mitt's negative ads. He couldn't control himself and made a fool of himself. His last two debate performances were pathetic and that stunt he tried to pull on Wolf Blitzer blew up in his face because he was being asked about charges he actually made. He went to the well one too many times. My question is if he can't handle Mitt...and he CLEARLY CAN'T!!! How in the hell is he going to handle obama and the rats and the MSM??? He won't. he'll self destruct right before our eyes, just like he did as Speaker as clinton whipped his butt. Newt as our candidate is a disaster waiting to happen!

Newt may be the choice of the base of the GOP. It would be generous to say that that would be 50% of the GOP which is 35% of the electorate. That's all he can hope to draw in the general. He won't win women. He won't win independents. Do that math...he can't win! He currently has 60% negatives. Good God almighty! And people say Santorum is fronting for Romney.

So ... you perceive it as Newt "went ballistic." Whatever. What on EARTH makes you think Santorum, especially having seen him in debates and at the South Carolina forum, wouldn't completely implode when attacked with the same ferocity by Romney? You can have no idea because you've never seen Santorum have to face that kind of heat. Gingrich, on the other hand, is a veteran.

Listen, I understand why you like Rick, and I'd be happy to vote for him in the General. But so far, reasons cited here trying to cast him as better than Gingrich fall pretty flat. At best, he can be called "as good" as Gingrich.

And for every Christian who is stirred by his urging to "vote your values" (i.e., don't vote for Newt because of his marital problems, vote for me because my marriage, by all appearances, has been strong), another Christian wrinkle his nose in contempt at such self-righteous posturing. "Vote your values" -- who's kidding who. What "values"? Be explicit. TALK TURKEY OR DON'T TALK AT ALL.

As far as I'm concerned, Ginrich is the straight shooter of the two.
