You know a nation does not have a serious naval tradition when they have to name their best ships after guys who served in the ARMYYou mean like the U.S.S. Eisenhower?

Their Rafale and Super Etendard jets can carry a supersonic cruise missile which comes with a nuclear warhead and a range of approximate 300 miles. I believe even USN tactical fighters don’t have a similar systems.

They’ll probably volunteer to be at the front to ensure the HUGE white flag can be seen.

Why does the French carrier look so scuzzy and dirty?
Maybe because it is?

Not to mention the Harry S. Truman and the Ronald W. Reagan. Both Army vets.

Actually I was jokingly implying nuclear ‘powered’ aircraft, but that’s interesting information.

Shouldn't that read The Charles de Gaulle nuclear aircraft carrier, since the Charles de Gaulle is a class of one? Not only is it the only French nuclear aircraft carrier, it is the only French aircraft carrier, period.
To: Tucker39
Some of the support vehicles on the aircraft are yellow, and I think parts of the ship have markings in yellow for different sections. shrug. It does look ‘yellow’.

It is possible they have already surrendered to Iran. They let Iran have their Battleship as part of the surrender?

French history is what it is and some of these remarks are couched in that reality. However, President Sarkozy is a tad sterner than his predecessors of recent years so the placement of the French carrier in the Arabian Gulf should not be seen as an empty nor idle gesture.
