It was pretty disapointing.

There were other factors, as well.

Recall that 2006 was not a good year for Republicans, in general.

The Republican base was generally disspirited by an unresponsive GOP majority in Congress and an apparently drifting Bush administration.

I rather doubt that the drop-off in votes for Blackwell, et al, had anything to do with their color -- but was, instead, a mass revulsion for the governing GOP.

In any event, I don't recall the black vote moving more than a point-or-two in favor of the Republican black candidates.

Yes, I do recall that.

And, Bob Taft (Governor of OH) was leaving office under a big cloud.

But, I couldn't wait to vote against Strickland (for Ken Blackwell).

I would have thought that Republicans in Pa would be anxious to vote Fast Eddie out of office as well.

What surprised me most that night was how early both elections were called for the Dems.

One thing that I do know is that the color of skin does not seem to matter to the conservatives posting on FR.

It would be great to have a patriot like Allen West on the ticket!

Rush just had a point(after just saying that Romney is not pro abortion).
If the votes for Newt and Santorum total more than Rom’s(only IF), then that means that a consolidation of Conservatives would have pushed one of them over the top.

In that case, THANKS ALOT RICK. We won’t forget what you did. :-(
