Marco Rubio Says Some Conservatives Harsh and Intolerable On Immigration By Liz Goodwin | The Ticket
"For those of us who come from the conservative movement, we must admit that there are those among us who have used rhetoric that is harsh and intolerable, inexcusable," Rubio said at a conference for the conservative Hispanic Leadership Network. "We must admit, myself included, that sometimes we've been too slow in condemning that rhetoric."
Rubio, a Republican senator to Florida who is often floated as a potential vice presidential nominee for the party in 2012, was interrupted by two protesters raising awareness about the Dream Act, which would provide legal status for illegal immigrants who were brought to the country as children and attend college or serve in the military. "Why don't you support undocumented immigrants? Please help us," one young man yelled, as members of the crowd booed. Rubio shouted from the podium that he wanted the two young men to be able to stay and hear him out, as security at the event quickly escorted them away.
"These young people are very brave to be here today," he said. "They had the bravery and the courage to raise their voices."
Rubio has said he will stay neutral during the primary, though he intervened on Mitt Romney's behalf when Newt Gingrich ran radio ads calling Romney "anti-immigrant." Rubio said the ads were inflammatory, and the Gingrich campaign quickly announced it would pull them.
Rubio didn't specify which conservatives he thought were using harsh immigration rhetoric in his speech. In a Republican presidential debate in October in Las Vegas, Rick Perry and Romney used the word "illegals" 10 times to refer to illegal immigrants, which is considered a dehumanizing term by immigration advocates.

I hope Rubio is not evolving into member of the Geraldo Rivera wing of the conservative movement.
“This guys is really starting to annoy the crap out of me.”
He’s suffering from “Beltway Mind Fungus”. It infects all of these jokers after some time in Washington.
Well, therein lies the problem. Advocates for ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION want to muddy the waters between illegal aliens and legal immigrants. In order to do that they have to make it difficult for people to discuss the issue and so they try to decide which words we can use. I'm sorry, but people who have come here against the law are ILLEGAL ALIENS. If that is dehumanizing, it is not my fault. They must have dehumanized themselves, or their parents dehumanized them since they are responsible for their status. Not me. And not Rick Perry or Romney. We need to stop caving into this silliness and use the proper terminology.
The conservative what?
Wouldn’t it be amazing if one of these GOP beltway jokers criticized Obama and his reckless immigration policy instead of going “John McCain” on their own supporters.
Romney-Rubio won’t be any different than Obama-Biden except they get to destroy the GOP from inside too.
That is why I support ron and rand Paul. You know what you get for better and worse.
Rubio: America has had enough of the national suicide policy of Republicans and Democrats called immigration. No more. End it now!
“Harsh and Intolerable” sounds a lot like “heartless.”
Remember how the MSM almost never points out the differences between embryonic and adult stem cell research? It’s the same thing with legal/illegal immigration now.
I hope no one is under the misconception that Marco is conservative. He is a stealth, sovereignty hating RINO. He no longer cares if he has TEA party support because he knows that he will be able to cry racist and get the dems on his side when re-election time comes.
Rubio just flushed any chance of higher National office down the toilet with this pitiful pandering.
Did they forget the word “ILLEGAL” in the headline?
Right on.
Enforcing law doesn’t have to be inhumane. We are the bad guys for wanting to preserve our nation.
The “insurmountable” task of righting the illegal immigration problem pales in comparison to what we accomplished in WWII.
All it takes is some collective will of the heretofore aquiescent majority of Americans.
“Harsh and Intolerable On Immigration”.....or on Illegal Immigration.....quite the difference.
These can’t be rolled into one over-riding debate.
So use the Spanish term. Illegales. Ee-lee-gah-lays.
