Please correct me if I’m wrong, but there are no provisions in the Constitution that would prevent Rubio from being Vice-President, as there are no NBC requirements for VPOTUS. However, he would never be allowed to be President, thus the position would be entirely meaningless.

The only reason to oppose Rubio as VP is because it would take a valuable conservative Senator out of a useful position and make him a figurehead.

A Vice President must meet the same qualifications as President (Amendment XII [... But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.]).

But since you are talking about the mythical “Natural Born Citizen” third way to be a citizen, maybe the rules are different in that fantasy world.

You might want to check the Twelfth Amendment to the United States Constitution.

I am gonna try to be gentle here....

Article 2 Section 1 begins with the following:
“Section 1.

The executive power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. He shall hold his office during the term of four years, and, together with the Vice President, chosen for the same term, be elected, as follows:”

http://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/articleii

That means POTUS candidates as well as Veep’s must meet the same requirements. The Veep who is not constitutional cannot fill the role of POTUS if he should become disabled or removed from office, and THAT is the point of having a Vp to begin with. To take the role of POTUS upon need.

You’ve got to be joking!

Anyone running as VP would have to meet the same eligiblity requirements as those for President, otherwise s/he would not be able to serve as President in the event the President dies:

- Must be 35 years old;

- Must be a resident of the United States for the past 14 years;

- A natural born citizen (born in the United States of citizen parents).

The vice-president must be qualified to serve as president. Rubio, having been born in the United States in 1971, is natural born and over 35. Thus, he qualifies.

He's said he doesn't want the job. We'll just have to see how he looks after the dust settles.
