PUNTA GORDA, Fla. (AP) Rick Santorum is tired, almost broke and going home.
The former Pennsylvania senator is taking a pause from Florida campaigning just days before the Tuesday primary that even he expects to deal him a third consecutive loss.

yeah well, neither Romney nor Newt has an honest bone in his body
Your recommendation to have Perry as Secretary of Energy is excellent. This country is on the verge of a energy boom, and getting Obama and his minions out of the way is just part of the job. Overturning anti-energy regulations dating back to Clinton and earlier is crucial as well.
FWIW, Santorum would make a good Secretary of Health and Human Services. Sarah Palin to the Department of the Interior. Michelle Bachmann to the Department of Education. Cain to the Secretary of the Treasury. I can't think of any Cabinet position for Paul, Christie, or Trump. None of the Presidential contenders or wannabes have enough experience for State, except maybe Huntsman, and I fear he would be another Powell. Ditto for Defense, though non-contender Allen West might be a good choice.
after 10 debates?
seriously? he had one notable line.
He is out of money.
He is out of time.
He can not repeat IOWA because IOWA was a small caucus state where he could go door to door.
Santorum has no backing, rich poor or otherwise.
He can not even afford an accountant.
If he REALLY had a shot he would have stayed in FL.
early voting is not as strong in attendance throughout the state. Early voting ends saturday. So that would have left three days to “work the crowds”.
Santorum is going home because he will likely come in behind kook paul.
Reality Bites.
The really sad part is the next races all favor Romney.
Santorum is a factor nationally.
Santorum has skillfully made a vote for Santorum the same as a vote for romney.
It is a two man race.
I believe you've been misinformed, on several points.
First, he has at least one "poor" person backing him. That would be me.
Second, he has at least one "rich" person helping fund his campaign. The man's name is Friess. There are some articles posted about him today.
Third, he's going home to retrieve some income tax filings from his home computer. Does that mean he's given up the fight? I don't think so.
It's Gingrich who needs to drop out. Newt has ZERO chance of beating Obama. Santorum at least has a chance. Check the polls today -- Santorum is WAY up against Obama as compared to Newt.
Santy was at 11% in SC polls before the election. He finished 17%. He has greater bounce potential this time.
I don’t think newt should drop out. I don’t think either of them should.
