WATERLOO, NY--the Waterloo Police Department reports the warrant arrest of Christopher G. Ludwig, 17 of 79 Stark Street Waterloo, NY for Harassment in the second degree and for a violation of the Village of Waterloo Municipal Code.

The arrest is a result of a complaint where it is alleged that Ludwig did throw a snow ball, striking another person which did cause pain and redness to the victim’s leg.

Ludwig was arraigned in the Waterloo Village Court and released on his own recognizance to reappear on a later date.

"I tell him I'm a minor and it's illegal to interrogate me without my parents present, and after that I don't say $hi+!"

“We’d much rather people read about our wine trails, our community rallying to support the Ticconi and Dickenson Families, our people and our communities. Those are the reasons we started Seneca Daily News in the first place, and they are the stories worth sharing with the nation. “

In other words, don't worry about the erosion of individual liberties and freedom. Have a good time on the wine trail instead!
Don't worry, be happy!!

What amazes me is the utter cluelessness of the editors towards the likely reaction to their story.

The apparently took a press release off the fax from the local police and ran it as is. Neither they-nor the police-considered just how silly that press release made the department look.

Then, Fox runs a link to their story/the press release and basically repeats it word for word. When that happens, the editors suddenly realize just how bad it makes their local officials look.

But...rather than say “man, what happened here? why are the police acting like this?” they go on a tirade about how ‘terrible’ it was for the national news to report what happened...in exactly the same manner as they did!

Last winter (or maybe the year before) in Washington, DC, about 200 young people congregated at the intersection of 14th and U Sts., NW for a big happy snowball fight. Someone drove a big (politically incorrect) SUV through the intersection and a snowball was thrown at it. The off duty policeman driving it jumped out of the car waving his gun around. The crowd started chanting, “You don’t bring a gun to a snow ball fight.” Other police came and the man was relieved of his gun and suspended pending investigation.

That night I phoned my son in Miami and as I was telling him about this event, he said, “Oh my gosh, they are showing this on the news right now.” People love these wild stories. In my neighborhood, icing snowballs meant wetting them on the outside and letting them freeze. We reserved stones for gravel fights using metal garbage can lids for shields. Neighbors got mad we were wasting their driveway gravel.

Let’s hope they can put a stop to those Indian burns too, not only are they painful; they’re racist too!

Dear Editor. I doubt I’d bring my family to Seneca falls to see your wine trails or to learn of the support for the Ticconi and Dickenson Families. But I sure WOULD bring them to be able to say “Look, kids! There’s the PD that arrested that kid for throwing a snowball that caused a red leg!” You’ve got a huge tourism opportunity right under your noses. If I were in your shoes, I’d immediately build a statue of a kid throwing a snowball to commemorate the event.

there must have been some reason throwing a snowball – even a snow ball that caused “redness” and “pain” – would actually escalate to an arrest.

Only bureaucratic drones use the word "escalate" that way. The small town power elite must have put out the word they don't want their sandbox known nationally for the wrong thing. Children.

The police had no choice but to respond to the complaint.

My post was in reference to the poor horribly injured victim of this horrendous crime.LOL

The story was probably picked up by the National media because of it’s being unusual. It isn’t every day that somone swears out an arrest warrant for a snowball.

Police respond to complaints all the time without making an arrest, by telling the complainant it should be handled civilly or by giving the suspect a warning.

If the complainant is insistent, they issue the summons.

Nope. They don’t. At least not in small towns in NY. I have relatives who were/are police.

It’s called assault. Either you believe in the law or you don’t.

You sure picked the correct User Name.

You left out this part, We honestly don’t know the full story, but we tend to think there must have been some reason throwing a snowball – even a snow ball that caused “redness” and “pain” – would actually escalate to an arrest.

Blaming Fox for being lazy; it's the other guys fault ploy. Indeed they would rather stick with drinking that awful Taylor Wine than do any real work.

Strange. Didn’t realize that part hadn’t reproduced. Must have been a cut and paste error on my part when I was trying to avoid copying the image and ads.

It’s very incidious. Case in point: There are many hunters in this area of the Fingerlakes. YOUNG hunters too. Which of course is diametrically opposed to the Ithaca liberal-lesbian-vegan bots. So on Facebook, photos of the “cancerous deer” are circulating to young hunters, associating it with FRACKING! Ithaca: Coming to a town near you!

Excellent idea. Maybe it would downplay all the “Bedford Falls” activity just before Christmas!
