I don’t get many “salesmen” back this dirt lane but I did have a black guy who tried to sell me frozen steaks from his truck, one time.
I sat and watched him contemplate the signs for a long while before he decided to ignore them and open the gate.
I left the dog in the house and went to the door and said “No thanks” while Odin was snarling, frothing, barking and trying to break out the window panes about 3 feet from where we both stood on my porch.
Never saw the guy again.
If he was actually “casing” the place, I reckon wisdom got the better of him.
Like an idiot I opened the door, he asked if the Kennedy's lived there, I said no, then he asked if the Johnson's lived there. This was back when John Kennedy was prez and Johnson was VP. He stood and looked at a old P/U truck that was parked by the garage. I don't know if he was thinking about stealing it or wondering if a man was in the house.
I called the Sheriff and over an hour later he came and picked up the creep who was still on my property. That was one of the worst hours in my life.
