It is not too wacky for me. If not for space exploration we would not be on the internet or have cell phones or laser surgery or satellite tv or the ability to spy..lol. There was a time Columbus was thought a fool because everyone believed the earth was flat. Newt suggested a mix of 90% private innovation and 10% govt investment. Maybe years from now when China beats us...everyone will look back on Gingrich and say, “that man was ahead of his time”

You won’t think so when the Chinese set up shop there first. Do you think they’ll abide by some treaty that says “space should be for everyone?”

Wacky? Would you have said putting a man on the moon was wacky in the 1960s? This is a frontier nation. Space exploration is something I’m deeply interested in. We used to talk a lot about having bases on the moon when I was growing up and at some point that sense of imagination and exploration sadly fell by the wayside.
