Bob Dole is still sore, because he tried to have Reagan leave an opening to raise taxes. Newt said “he// no” and Reagan sided with Newt against Bob Dole.
And why do these guys take it so PERSONALLY when they’re not allowed to raise taxes? I would have to assume it’s because they were planning to use the revenue collected to engage in some crony capitalism and kickbacks.
