can you believe the rates are this low? golden opportunity

the rates under carter were like 12% - kinda gives perspective

In So. Cal, thanks to Carter, the rates reached as high as 18%, higher on seconds.

That was what spurred the end of the assumable mortgage. Everyone was assuming the old mortgage (no qualifying) and then taking out a second to make up the difference, seconds and thirds.

I asked the loan rep why this was being offered. He said that it was a result of the European situation and the bond market.
