The right endorsements mean a lot.
In IA for example Van Der Plaats’ backing of Santorum was crucial. I doubt he’d have won without it, or surged as much as he did towards the end.
Charlie Crist’s endorsement of McCain in FL back in 2008 was decisive and delivered the state for him according to many.
Perry’s endorsement helped Newt in SC, a few pts, but hta made a difference. Winning by 12-13 looks a lot better than 7-8.
We saw in the 2010 primaries how endorsements had an impact in the various races. There are many examples.
Romney’s just had the wrong endorsements.
