At least France and England are still with us and ready to put their butts on the line. Any other nations? Calling all friends of the USA. German ships? Italian Ships, Spanish Ships? Greece? Holland? Sweden?
We defy the muzzies and talk tough on the one hand and at the same time we allow them into the country by the thousands.

I thought their military (specifically their Navies) had been pared back so much--by the Leftists--as to make them useless???

The answer is a Muslim President would do EXACTLY what Obama is doing as he destroys America. The Average American thinks that this scenario is impossible, it can't happen they reason.

The Italian Navy is busy elsewhere.
Illegal traffic from Tunisia, Morrocco and Egypt is way up, and since most of them wind up landing in Italy, the navy has been deployed there to turn them back - or do the inevitable rescues and returns. (Wife’s cousin is still active duty there)
Spain, the good lord knows, they aren’t even defending their coastline, from what I have heard.
Greece is giving Turkey the old hairy eyeball over the Cyprus oil deposits and needs to reserve it’s (very small) navy.
It is factional infighting here as usual.

Actually they've proved quite useful in the past especially when our systems were not exactly working as planned.
On February 25, 1991, during the first Gulf War, the Phalanx-equipped USS Jarrett (FFG-33) was a few miles from the USS Missouri (BB-63) and the destroyer HMS Gloucester (D96). The ships were attacked by an Iraqi Silkworm missile (often referred to as the Seersucker), at which Missouri fired its SRBOC chaff. The Phalanx system on Jarrett, operating in the automatic target-acquisition mode, fixed upon Missouri's chaff, releasing a burst of rounds. From this burst, four rounds hit Missouri which was two to three miles (about 5 km) from Jarrett at the time. There were no injuries.[8] A Sea Dart missile was then launched from HMS Gloucester, which destroyed the Iraqi missile, achieving the first successful engagement of a missile by a missile during combat at sea.
